The City of Niš leased free of charge the land property of the total area of 25827m2 equipped with communal infrastructure in the city industrial zone Donje Medurovo for the construction of factory. This new factory will employ 400 workers. At the official contract signing Mayor Simonović pointed out that the City of Niš proved to be credible partner which opened its doors to new investments which led to the creation of new jobs and that was something the citizens of Niš and whole Southeast Serbia needed the most. The Dytech General Manager and owner Giuliani Zucco expressed his expectations that the construction works would start soon and that the factory itself would start to operate in summer following year. On the same occasion RS Minister for Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkić and general manger and owner of the Italian company Dytech Guilano Zucco signed the contract on awarding the national incentives. Mr. Nam said that he was very pleased with the dynamics of the construction works and that they would be finished before the deadline. Since the construction is expected to be finished by spring next year the first employees can start the training at Rača by the end of the winter. Mayor Simonović said that he was satisfied with the progress of the construction works carried on by local companies from Niš. He added that the City of Niš had almost reached the agreement with the affiliate Yura Company on the construction of their facilities on the land property immediately next to future Yura factory. 300 people could be hired in this new

affiliate company. Mayor Simonović also visited the land property where the preparation ground works for the construction of the Dytech factory had been finished. Mayor Simonović announced the visit by French company Sagem. The meeting with Sagem representatives will be focused on defining the exact location for opening of new Sagem production facilities. Mayor Simonović expressed his hope that this investment could be realised by the end of this year. The new Sagem factory will produce the components necessary for the TV signal reception digitalization.

NEW FACTORIES IN NIŠ

Serbian government in in accordance with Decree on Terms and Conditions for Attracting Direct Investments. Besides Dytech, the contracts were signed with seven more companies located in Niš which would extend

their capacities and thus create new 3000 jobs. The contracst were signed with the following companies: Bard, Euro Design, Haj Ararat, Harder Digital, Bakery MBN, Ming company and Sea Food Serbia.

CONTRACT ON PROPERTY EXCHANGE WITH REPUBLIC DIRECTORATE SIGNED

The property exchange procedure between the City of Niš and RS Ministry of Defense has been finally complete after eight years of negotiation.

The City of Niš has become the official owner of the land where the military airport complex is located and the official owner of the military barracks Bubanjski heroji. The contract on transferring the usage rights over the public land was signed by Niš City Mayor Miloš Simonović and the director of RS Directorate for Property Bratilslav Pejković. Thus the conclusion made by RS Government has been verified. Republic of Serbia Government approved the exchange of the land property between RS Ministry of Defense and the City of Niš. By the conclusion adopted by RS Government, the land property with the total area of 170 hectares within the military complex at Niš airport and the land property with the total area of 15 hectares within the military barracks Bubanjski heroji is to be transferred into ownership of Nis City. In return, the City of Niš is obliged to hand over to Republic of Serbia Army 32 already constructed flats and 21% of all the flats which will be built on the location of military barracks Bubanjski heroji and the expropriated land with the total area of 175ha at the location of Gornji Komren settlement for the future military base to be built.

German development bank invested 220 million Euros in Serbia through the projects in the field of energy and water supply. During past 10 years KfW invested 20 million Euros through the implementation of the projects and all these projects turned out to be sustainable. That is why the City of Nis is valuable partner. City Heating Plant implemented three-phase project with KfW, with the first two phase being the donation and the third one soft credit line, and it enabled to replace the boilers and heating distribution network and to complete

The project envisages providing financial and technical support to refugees and IDPs including the socially vulnerable citizens. Potential beneficiaries should suggest economically viable business ideas in order to receive the donated equipment/material (average value of 1.500,00 EUR). The selected beneficiaries should undergo the training for chosen business operations and obligatory communal voluntary work. The project is financed by EU through EU Delegation to Serbia. The project is prepared in accordance with the National Strategy for resolving the problems of refugees and IDPs in Serbia and it tries to contribute to the efforts made by RS Government and RS Commission for Refugees and to improve the living conditions for these vulnerable categories of citizens.

Dusica Davidovic, Nis City Council Member, said on this occasion that the City of Niš adopted the Local Plan for Refugees and IDPs and that these vulnerable categories of citizens had all rights to subventions like any other citizen in Niš.

The representatives of KfW, GTZ and CIM Programmes, led by the representatives of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development visited Niš on the occasion of marking the 10th anniversary of successful cooperation between Germany and Serbia within which the City of Niš had important part since it had been the partner to German assistance programmes since the very beginning of their work in Serbia.

Niš City Mayor Miloš Simonović met with the Ambassador of Croatia in Serbia Željko Kupreško and the delegation of Croatian businessmen.

Ambasador Kupreško said that there was a great interest on both sides in establishing cooperation and that there were potentials to be further explored primarily in the areas of culture, education and science. He added that the City of Niš managed to become recognizable by its numerous cultural event and that the possible cooperation in the economy areas should not be neglected as well. The first step will be made through the cultural cooperation between the City of Niš and cities of Rijeka and Pula which are also recognizable by its long tradition in the festival organisation. Mayor Simonović said that the economic cooperation was the basic form of the cooperation between Serbia and Croatia and that the City of Niš would try to follow this general trend. He expressed his hope that the meeting between the businessmen from Croatia and Niš would have some actual results and business deal closures.

The City of Niš had a joint presentation with the Serbian Investment and Export Promotion Agency, Vojvodina Investment Promotion Fund and other cities and municipalities from Serbia. On that occasion the City of Niš was given special attention as the city and the region of special interest in the Serbian economic development.
