Duties and Taxes Paid View charges

DHL Express can arrange for the shipper or a third party to be

billed for any duties and taxes payable at destination, rather

than the receiver of the shipment being billed. Charges apply

whenever the shipper requests that duties, taxes or other

regulatory fees be billed outside of the destination country.

Dedicated Pickup View charges

At shipper’s request, an immediate or non-routine, once-only

pickup of a shipment within a normal working day that involves

aspecificvehiclesuchasataillifttruckormorethanone

courier. A receiver can request this service when booking an

IMPshipment.

Shipment Preparation View charges

This is a convenient, fast and reliable service for seasonal

or irregular shipments that require extra resources for their

preparation. DHL manages the entire process of waybill

preparation, content selection, labelling and packaging,

then sends the shipments to the designated domestic or

international addresses.

Saturday Delivery View charges

At a shipper’s request, the destination country will deliver

shipments up to 300kg or pieces up to 30kg on Saturday.

United Nations. DHL can also provide reports for either a high

SURCHARGES

Inordertomaintainaconsistentlyhighlevelofservice,in

specificcircumstancesDHLExpressleviesasurchargefor

exceptional activities, ensuring that these surcharges are fair for

all of our customers.

Fuel Surcharge View charges

This variable surcharge is applied to the weight charge of each

shipmentandanytransportationrelatedsurcharges.Itis

derived from publicly available fuel oil indices that are also

shown on the DHL Express website at dhl.co.uk/fuelsurcharge.

The charge is calibrated every month to the oil price that was

current two months prior to the billing month. The Fuel

Surcharge applies to domestic and international shipments.

Remote Area View charges

This surcharge applies when a shipment is collected from

ordeliveredtoalocationthatisdistantordifficulttoserve.

The Remote Area surcharge applies to international and

domestic shipments.

Overweight Piece View charges

Afixedsurchargeisappliedtoeverypiece,includinga

pallet that exceeds a scale or volumetric weight of 70kg.

The Overweight Piece surcharge applies to domestic and

international shipments.

Oversize Piece View charges

Thisfixedsurchargeappliestoeverypiece,includingapallet,

with a single dimension in excess of 120cm. The Oversize Piece

surcharge applies to domestic and international shipments.

Non-Stackable Pallet View charges

Thisfixedsurchargeisappliedtoeverypalletwithinashipment

that cannot be stacked, either on request by the shipper, or

because of its shape, content or packaging. This surcharge

applies to domestic and international shipments.

Dangerous Goods View charges

DHL can carry acceptable quantities of dangerous goods or

hazardous materials. Packages containing dangerous goods

materials will be assessed and a service charge will be applied

accordingly. This service charge applies to domestic and

international shipments.

Lithium Batteries View charges

A surcharge may apply per shipment when the handling and

transportationinvolvesLithiumIonorLithiumMetalbatteries

compliantwiththeappropriateIATAPackingInstructions966,

967,969and970,SectionII.

Excepted Quantities View charges

Thisfixedsurchargeisappliedpershipmentwhenthehandling

and transportation involves substances and commodities that

areinExceptedQuantitiesincompliancewithIATADangerous

Goods Regulations.

Limited Quantities View charges

A surcharge is applied per shipment when the ground handling

and transportation involves substances and commodities that

are in Limited Quantities in compliance with ADR regulations

and which which are also restricted for air transportation under

IATA.Suchdangerousgoodsarerestrictedtonomorethan30kg

per piece gross and are accepted from approved shippers only.

Dry Ice UN1845 View charges

A service charge will be applied for the handling and transportation

ofDryIceUN1845,whichisusedasafreezingagent.

Address Correction View charges

Thisfixedsurchargeisappliedtoanyshipmentthathasan

incorrect delivery address at the time of pickup and the delivery

cannotbefulfilledaftermakingeffortsatthedestinationto

determine the correct address. This surcharge applies to

domestic and international shipments.

Data Entry View charges

Thisfixedsurchargeappliesforeachshipmentconsignedwith

non-electronic, paper based manual waybills. Electronic

shipping documentation incurs no additional charges.

Security Charges View charges

Additional surcharges may apply when shipping from or to a

destination country where DHL is operating at elevated risk due

to continuous state of war, civil unrest, or continuous threats

from terrorism (Elevated Risk), or when shipping to a

destination country that is subject to trade restrictions imposed

by the UN Security Council (Restricted Destination).

DHL Express is the international specialist in shipping, with

extensive knowledge and experience of dealing with customs

topics worldwide. For your peace of mind, we provide a wide

range of customs support for standard as well as non-routine

customs-clearance processes. By making sure that clearance is

asmoothandefficientprocess,weensureyourshipmentsarrive

as quickly as possible, and leave you free to focus on your core

business. With our online tool (tas.dhl.com) we provide essential

customs information to help you prepare your shipments.

Disbursement View charges

At the receiver’s request, DHL credit or cash is used to fund the

clearance, duty and tax charges relating to a shipment or piece,

instead of the receiver using their own bond or credit line.

The customs process is accelerated, with DHL making prompt

payment of relevant charges while the receiver defers payment

until an agreed date.

Advance Payment View charges

The service covers any import of a non-document shipment for

which DHL has paid or used its customs credit line advancing

customs duties, taxes or regulatory charges on behalf of those

importers with whom DHL has no contract. The charge is based

on the credit advanced or guaranteed and is subject to a

standard minimum.

Broker Notification View charges

At the customer’s request, DHL will provide the necessary

paperwork to the customer’s designated broker to perform the

importclearanceandresumethedeliverytothefinaldestination

once the clearance is completed. DHL is subsequently not

responsible for the timeliness of the submission to customs or

for the release of the shipment.

Bonded Storage View charges

Storage charges apply when the shipment cannot be released by

customs due to inaccurate or missing paperwork. Charges also

apply when storage is requested by the customer. These charges

takeeffectthreedaysaftertheshipmentarrivaldateorthe

brokernotification,whicheverislater.Thechargeappliestothe

duty and taxes payer.

Bonded Transit View charges

A bonded shipment occurs when DHL is requested to move

non-document foreign-origin goods to a location other than the

regular DHL gateway at destination. Bonded Transit is normally

operated within a country or customs union, and is necessary

priortofinalclearancebytheimporterordesignatedbroker.

Bonded Transit applies to both export and import shipments

whenever DHL is required to open, manage or report any form

of transfer under bond using our own guarantee.

Export Declaration View charges

Applies in countries where an export declaration is required

for shipments containing controlled commodities or exceeding

a certain value threshold or weight. Depending on origin

country, shippers that submit a declaration online may avoid

the local charge.

Release to Broker View charges

At shipper or importer request, the release of a DHL Express

shipment to the customers designated customs broker of

choice. DHL will transfer the responsibility for a shipment and

related customs documentation to the customer’s nominated

broker for clearance and last mile delivery.

Clearance Data Modification View charges

A surcharge applies in case the customs declared value of a

shipmentrequiresmodificationeitherbeforeorduringthe

customs clearance process.

Multiline Entry View charges

A service charge will be assessed for multiline item entries with

morethanfivelines.Anexamplewouldbe–oneshipmentwith

multiple products or multiple invoices. All products require

identificationandmustbeclassifiedunderseparateharmonized

tariffnumbers.

Shipment weightPleaseweighandmeasureyourshipment.Ifyouaresending a large but lightweight shipment, where its volumetric (dimensional) weight exceeds its actual weight, the cost of the shipment is calculated on the space your consignment takes up on the aircraft. This is a standardIATAmethod.Tocalculatethevolumetricweightof your shipment, simply multiply the length by height by width in centimeters, then divide the total sum by 5,000 for each piece in the shipment. Any piece in the shipment may be re-weighed and/or re-measured by DHL to confirmthiscalculation.

Documentation required: waybillAll shipments sent with DHL Express need to have a fully completed DHL waybill or label securely attached to each piece. This will enable the successful movement of your shipment through the DHL network. Each waybill or label is individually numbered to allow you to track your shipment from collection through to delivery. Your shipment may also need to be accompanied by customs documentation, such as a commercial or proforma invoice, as well as additional paperwork depending on the contents and value of the shipment and the country you are sending to.

Documentation required: invoice A commercial or proforma invoice is required when sending non-document shipments to countries and territories outside your origin country or customs union. This is essentially a declaration containing all the details of a transaction and is used by customs authorities to assess if duties or taxes are payable. A commercial invoice is used when goods are part of a commercial transaction or intended for resale. A proforma invoice is used when sending goods of no commercial value (for example, when sending samples).

DHL Express does not accept shipments exceeding 1,000kg, or containing pieces exceeding 300kg or 300cm in length, and/or not meeting DHL standards for packing. Refer to our Packing Guide on dhl.co.uk/packingguide. These network restrictions are subject to change with 30 days’ notice.

1 BANK DETAILS These are the bank details that will be used for the transaction between the seller and buyer. These details are not required for non-commercial/proforma invoices.

2 DESCRIPTION Generic or broad descriptions are no longer permitted and are likely to cause delays. Descriptions should include the items, how many there are, what they are made of, and what they will be used for. For example, describing items as ‘samples’, ‘parts’ or ‘spares’ is not acceptable for customs classification,safetyandsecurityreasons.

3 COMMODITY CODE Thisistheproductidentificationcodeusedby the exporting country to classify the goodstobeexported.Itassistsclearanceand avoids delays.

4 COUNTRY OF MANUFACTURE/ORIGIN This relates to the place of manufacture, notthecountryofexport.Ifitemsaremanufactured in more than one country, please list the origins.

PACKAGING YOUR SHIPMENT

To ensure that your shipments travel safely and securely

through the DHL Express global network, it is important that

they are packaged and labeled correctly.

Packaging guidelines n Ifyouarere-usingenvelopesorboxes,pleaseensurethat

old labels and markings are removed

n Securelyfixthewaybilltotheshipment.Thewaybillcanbe

thought of as the shipment’s airline ticket and it will delay

delivery if it becomes separated from your shipment

n The barcodes on the waybill are scanned at numerous

points during your shipment’s journey. Please ensure

thebarcodeisflatandnotcoveredbytape,shrinkwrap

or strapping

n Place the waybill on the top or side of your shipment

and please ensure it does not overlap the corners or

edges of boxes

n Use adequate protective wrapping for fragile or delicate

items and ensure they are packed as far away as possible

from the corners of boxes

n To prevent injury to our employees, please pay special

attention to the packaging of sharp items. There should not

be any possibility of the contents piercing the packaging

n Any individual pieces over 70kg should be placed on a

pallet.Ifyouaresendingamulti-pieceshipment,itisnot

necessary to place the individual pieces on a pallet unless

they exceed 70kg. For example, a shipment comprising

four 25kg pieces does not have to be placed on a pallet

DHL packagingWeofferarangeofhigh-qualityDHL-brandedpackagingitems,

suitable for shipping items of all shapes and sizes. The items
