This is an event flier for a charity concert in the park. This would ideally

be passed around town and perhaps at other charity events or concerts

My message is to get people excited about an acoustic, unique, concert

in the park. The charity part of the event was not my main message, but

it was an important element. I wanted to appeal to people who enjoy soft

acoustic music and the outdoors. I wanted to get people interested in

coming to a nice, local concert

Once I found the image on http://www.unsplash.com, I printed out a

5×7 high quality image from my local Walmart. I then scanned in the

image, played around with the quality, and used Microsoft Word to create

the design. I used a color wheel to create the split complimentary color

scheme and used a font from DaFont.com. As I used Microsoft Word to

create the design, I focused on negative

space and visual heirarchy

This is an event flier for a family apple picking event for a local city school

system. The main picture used was a photo that Ipersonally shot for this flier

My message is to inform the students and the parents of the local school

system that there was a family event happening. I wanted to get them

excited about how the quality of apple picking will be, because I want to

ensure them that it will be fun! I used the primary colors so that I could

appeal to a younger audience, as well as their parents

After coming up with some ideas for the flier itself and even sketching a

little, I went out with my camera and snapped some photographs in an

orchard on my school campus. I edited my favorite image by manipulating

levels, selected colors and more. I then went onto Adobe Photoshop CC

and played around with the design. I used a color wheel to incorporate

the triadic color scheme into my design. I also tried to incorporate white

space even though there is no technical negative space in the design. I

also focused on alignment and balance so I could create some easy lines

to follow. I used tools like layers, masks and filters

This is a brochure for a company’s opening day events. The company

TriAthlete, is a sports store that is hosting an opening day triathlon to gepeople excited about their business

I wanted to inform the public about the grand opening event for my

company, TriAthlete. I wanted to discuss who the new company was, and

how to sign up for the triathlon and be a part of the opening day events

My audience was athletes and outdoorsmen who wan

the highest quality gear

The first thing I did with this project was go into Adobe Illustrator and

create the logo for my company. I downloaded the typefaces “Roboto” and

“Lucida Fax” off of Google Fonts. I used the pen tool, the rectangle tool

type tool and some features like “pathfinders” to make my logo. I also took

colors off of the color wheel to create a triadic scheme

To set up my brochure, I opened up an Adobe InDesign file and set up two

different pages and created margins to follow on those pages. I labeled

each page so I would know what to design where. I created my design by

repeating a lot of different elements like the color scheme and the angled

objects. I used this document to make my design

To create the cut out, I went into Adobe Photoshop and selected the part

of the image I wanted to cut out. I then refined the edge and saved it as a

.psd file. I then put the image into my InDesign file and used the text wrap

tools to wrap it correctly

A business card, front and back, for a marketing agency, HONEYBEE

This business card was meant to appeal to business owners that need

help with marketing. I wanted to make sure to use a modern, and timeless

look for my design because I needed the audience to recognize that the

business can actually market well

I first created the logo on Adobe Illustrator using the pen tool and other

tools in the program. In an InDesign document, I created the actual designfor my business card. I made sure to use the correct measurements and

the same colors and fonts I used in creating the logo

This stationery uses the same logo that I used for my business card, and is

for the same company. It was important to me to connect the two asa sign of branding

In this project, I wanted to make a simple, clean design that would

connect to the HONEYBEE Marketing firm. It was important to me to use

repeating elements such as the colors, the fonts, the logo, the sharp lines

and even the angles that I used on the business card. My audience was

directed toward business owners who need help marketing

I started out by creating the logo, as seen on the back of the business card

and the bottom of the letterhead. I used Adobe Illustrator using the pen

tool, shape tool and other simple tools to create the logo

I then created another InDesign document to make the letterhead. I

repeated simple elements like the diagonal grey box and the icon at the

top. I made sure to leave enough space for a letter to be written

Three variations of one logo for “Janae Marie Acoustics”

which is a guitar shop

I wanted to create a logo that would communicate what my company was

and the kind of business that it was. My audience was music lovers who

love quality guitars and want the best supplies

I started out by sketching out some ideas so I could find my

favorite ideas. I then created three different digital sketches o

my favorite three designs on Adobe Illustrator. I used color.adobe.com

to help me pick out the colors I wanted to use so I could make sure I was

using the color wheel and making good color schemes. After touching

up my three designs, I went to two different people to get full critiques.

also took a survey of ten people to help pick which logo I was going to use

Surprisingly, my favorite logo wasn’t the most popular, so the logo I ended

up producing was my second favorite design. I then manipulated the logo

into three different variations so it could be used in multiple situations

This is a flier for a workshop that takes place on the BYU-Idaho campus on

Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Capoeria is aBrazilian self-defense art form

I wanted to get students excited about this new workshop. Capoeria is

exciting and I wanted to strike the students so it would catch their eye and

make them interested. The main message I was trying to display is that

Capoeria is entertaining and something new and interesting. My audience

was the student who wants to try new and exciting things. I wanted to

connect to the person who is looking to have fun and be outgoing to try

the most intense workshops

I started out by sketching and getting ideas about the style and feel of the

flier. I loved the idea of brushstrokes and a painted background, so I kep

in mind those design elements while brainstorming. I then went on Adobe

InDesign to work out my original ideas. The result wasn’t anything like

my sketches, but after a few rounds of revisions and critiques, I ended on

this design. During the designing process, I focused heavily on unifying

the design and repeating elements so that it feels like one piece. I also

constantly looked back on the feelings I wanted to evoke

An inspirational montage using two pictures and type

My audience was the LDS church population, but more specifically, those

who have lost loved ones in the military. I wanted to say that it was for a

noble cause, and that we are thankful for their service. I wanted people

to be more appreciative of the work our military does for us. I tried to

convey how the ancient scripture found in Alma still applies today, and

quite relevantly. I used a black and white scheme with pops of color and a

clean font and rectangle so that I could portray a modern feel, even using

ancient scripture. I wanted to bridge the gap between old scripture and

today. I also wanted put the words at the bottom of the page because wanted to give the audience the two pieces: the cemetery and Captain

Moroni first, and then connect the two with the text

I first cropped the cemetery photo to an 8.5×11 photo, applied coloring

filters to the back to get the contrast right, and applied a masked black

and white filter to the main picture to get only the flags to be in color.

then changed the coloring of the second photo, placed it in the piece and

faded out the edges with a masking tool. Finally, I added the rectangle and

the text and used fx properties to make the font visible

A web page created using HTML and CSS to display my logo that I created

I wanted my web page to have the same feel as my logo, because I wan

them to know that I thought through my design and wanted to portray

a certain feeling. My audience was someone who is interested in my

designs and want to see my process in creating

I started out by writing my content for the page and mapping out how Iwanted the page to look in my mind. I then used the text editor Notepad++

to write the simple HTML that I used for this page. I made sure to

categorize everything correctly and with structure so it would be easier to

style later. I then wrote my CSS by starting a new file on my text editor and

linking it to my index page. I used the CSS to change fonts, colors, and

other style changes like making my profile picture rounded
