The deceased, namely Namita, daughter of Romesh Kumar of Chak Pakhlai, was accompanying her grandfather when she accidentally slipped into Tawi water. Despite hectic efforts by her grandfather and some other people, the minor girl could not be rescued and later her body was fished out with the help of police. JKNM discusses prevailing situation in Kashmir Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 21: Jammu and Kashmir Nationalist Movement (JKNM) Executive met here today to assess the lat- est situation in the State and for- mulate adequate response. The meeting expressed con- cern over sweeping radicalizing of Valley society, continuation of infiltration from LoC and Border and failure to initiate a result oriented harmonization exercise on political level. The meeting said that the prevailing situation reveals that conditions are far away from normalization in Kashmir. It said that after mass resent- ment in the Valley aimed at foil- ing the public announcement of the PM and the CM about con- centrated rehabilitation of IDPs, the Centre and the State chose to seal their lips and eat the humble pie. The relative episode in the Legislative Assembly is a reve- lation, it added. The JKNM resolved that despite return and rehabilitation turned rhetoric than reasons with Governments and political leadership, past and present, it reiterated its duly considered proposal of twin city as just , viable and acceptable formula that serves the interests of all nationalists who have a stake in the return and rehabilitation of the IDPs. The meeting said JKNM would help the Government to recollect the team of interlocu- tors headed by Dilip Padgaonkar after assessing the ground reali- ty in the Valley also strongly recommended the Twin City for- mula in their final report to the Government of India. Vibodh Gupta announces Rs 5 lakh for Rajouri PG College Excelsior Correspondent RAJOURI, Oct 21: Government Postgraduate College Rajouri organized an Inaugural Function of Add-on courses in Journalism, Functional English and Tourism under the control of Prof. Javed Mughal, HoD English as the coordinator of the courses. It was a mega event where more than 250 students got themselves enrolled in various professional courses. Advocate Vibodh Gupta, MLC Rajouri was the chief guest on the occa- sion. Gupta has been the alumni of the Post Graduate College Rajouri who visited college for the first time after being elected as MLC. He was honored by the staff and students of the College. While taking stock of the internal condition of the college campus he announced an amount of Rs 5 lakh and handed the authority letter thereof to the Principal of the College for the up-gradation of the internal roads which were pitiably in shabby conditions. The proceedings of the func- tion were presided over by Prof. S.H. Shaw, the Principal of the College. Mr Gupta, expressed his views on the need and importance of the newly launched professional courses in day day life. PK asks people to thwart designs of Pak Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 21: The Political Affairs Committee of Panun Kashmir (PK) met here today and conducted a panel discussion on the latest political situation in the State and the statements emanating from Pakistan. The meeting was presided over by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir and attended by Virender Raina, National spokesperson, Upinder Kaul, general secretary, Kamal Bagati, organising secretary, N.M.Gadroo, Vijay Qazi, Ravi Punjabi, Ramesh Kaul, P.K.Kaul and Sameer Bhat. Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, P K while addressing the meeting said that the time has come to thwart the belliger- ence of Pakistan against India in a comprehensive manner. While reacting to the recent statement of Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Aijaz Chaudhary that Pakistan is developing or has developed small tactical nuclear weapons for use against India, he said it smacks of high- ly sinister motive. Pakistan’s role in the creation and abet- ment of terrorism against India is a well recognised fact and as such the threat of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons falling in the hands of terrorists can also be not ruled out as a possible sce- nario, he added. He said Pakistan has been recognised as the epicenter of global terrorism by the world community and with the condi- tions prevailing inside Pakistan, the world community needs to come together to prevent the dangerous cocktail of nuclear and terror combine. In the con- text of Pakistan PM’s visit to the US, he appealed to the United States Government on behalf of exiled Pandits to take a strong notice of the statement and the connected develop- ments affecting the security sit- uation. It is the duty of the United States administration to defang Pakistan of its nuclear eggs and secure the civilized world from an imminent threat, he added. Virender Raina, National Spokesperson-PK said that the peace in Kashmir is possible only by strengthening the nationalist constituency in the State and also by frustrating the nefarious designs of Pakistan. Kashmiri Pandits are the prime victims of Pak sponsored and abetted terrorism in Kashmir and have faced genocide, ethnic cleansing and exodus in their own country. At a time when the world has become conscious of the refugee situation at a global level, the Pandits who are living as refugees in their own country need to be declared as Internally Displaced Persons. The recom- mendations made by the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Home Affairs in this regard need to be accepted by the Government and imple- mented in letter and spirit, he added. In a triangular contest, Mr Gupta defeated his nearest rival Rajesh Choudhary with a margin of six votes. Gupta secured 137 votes while Mr Choudhary and third contestant Vijay Singh Jasrotia were polled 161 and six votes, respectively. JWAM protests against non-availability of Govt ration Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 21: The activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement JWAM) burnt effigies of the State CAPD and Union Food Ministries in protest against non-availability of Government ration at depots for the last three months. Sunil Dimple, president JWAM, led the protest against non-availibility of ration card and kerosene oil for the eco- nomically weaker sections of the State, particularly in the Jammu region. He alleged that the CAPD department has badly failed to cater the needs of the consumers and also badly failed to control and check the rising prices. Dimple demanded a check on the rising prices and consti- tution of flying squads to raid the dumping house of the hoarders, black marketeers and implementation of Food Security Bill, besides exemp- tion of Sale Tax on domestic LPG, petrol and diesel to relieve the common man of the State. Two women among five held with illicit liquor Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR, Oct 21: Police today said it arrested five boot- leggers that include two women in Kargil district of Ladakh Division and recovered illicit liquor from their possession. A police spokesman said on specific information, a police party raided few Dhabas at Kabadi Nalla and Baimathang and recov- ered 574 Bottles of illicit liquor from the possession of Budha Bhadure, Dando Sharpa, Kumari Tamang and Kanchi Tamang. The four bootleggers, police said, are all from Nepal. Poshan Dass, a resident of Kishtwar district was also arrested. "The accused persons were arrested and five cases under FIR numbers 75/2015, 76/2015, 77/2015, 78/2015 and 79/2015 under Section 48 Excise Act were registered," the spokesman added. Four injured as auto rolls down Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 21: Four per- sons were injured today when the auto on which they were travelling in, skidded off the road and rolled down near Nagrota Byepass. According to a police spokesperson, the accident occurred this evening due to the negligence of the auto driver who lost control over the steering. He said that the injured were imme- diately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment. The injured have been iden- tified as Dwarka Nath Bhat (65), Anjali Bhat (35), Satish Kumar Dhar (52) and Kuldeep Bhat (40). A case in this connection has been registered at concerned police station further investiga- tions are underway. Budgam youth drowns in Leh Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR, Oct 21: Police today said a youth lost his life after drowning in Leh district of Ladakh Division. A police spokesman said 23 year-old Bilal Ahmad Magrey of Chill Bros in Khansahib village Budgam district who was working with A to Z Company in Leh drowned in Indus River near Igg village. "The body of deceased was fished out. After completion of legal formalities the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. Police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC in this regard," the spokesman added.

JAMMU, Oct 21: GulshanRaj Gupta has been elected as

new president of JammuKashmir State Board of School

Education Non-GazettedEmployees Association, elec-tions of which were held today.

In a triangularcontest, Mr Guptadefeated his nearestrival RajeshChoudhary with amargin of six votes.Gupta secured 137votes while MrChoudhary and thirdcontestant VijaySingh Jasrotia werepolled 161 and sixvotes, respectively.

For the post ofvice-president SSatpal Singh wasdeclared electedwhile Jatinder Singh

Manhas was elected as generalsecretary.

Lal Chand and S Iqbal Singhwere declared elected as secre-tary and cashier, respectively ofthe Association.

The election results weredeclared, late this evening, byDr Yasir Hamid Sirwani, whowas appointed as election com-missioner for conducting theelections.

JWAM protests againstnon-availability of Govt ration

JAMMU, Oct 21: Theactivists of Jammu WestAssembly Movement JWAM)burnt effigies of the State CAPDand Union Food Ministries inprotest against non-availabilityof Government ration at depotsfor the last three months.

Sunil Dimple, presidentJWAM, led the protest againstnon-availibility of ration cardand kerosene oil for the eco-nomically weaker sections ofthe State, particularly in theJammu region.

He alleged that the CAPDdepartment has badly failed tocater the needs of the consumersand also badly failed to controland check the rising prices.

Dimple demanded a checkon the rising prices and consti-tution of flying squads to raidthe dumping house of thehoarders, black marketeers andimplementation of FoodSecurity Bill, besides exemp-tion of Sale Tax on domesticLPG, petrol and diesel to relievethe common man of the State.

Two womenamong five heldwith illicit liquor

SRINAGAR, Oct 21: Policetoday said it arrested five boot-leggers that include two womenin Kargil district of LadakhDivision and recovered illicitliquor from their possession.

A police spokesman said onspecific information, a policeparty raided few Dhabas at KabadiNalla and Baimathang and recov-ered 574 Bottles of illicit liquorfrom the possession of BudhaBhadure, Dando Sharpa, KumariTamang and Kanchi Tamang. Thefour bootleggers, police said, areall from Nepal. Poshan Dass, aresident of Kishtwar district wasalso arrested.

"The accused persons werearrested and five cases underFIR numbers 75/2015, 76/2015,77/2015, 78/2015 and 79/2015under Section 48 Excise Actwere registered," thespokesman added.

Four injured as auto rolls down

JAMMU, Oct 21: Four per-sons were injured today whenthe auto on which they weretravelling in, skidded off theroad and rolled down nearNagrota Byepass.

According to a policespokesperson, the accidentoccurred this evening due to thenegligence of the auto driver wholost control over the steering. Hesaid that the injured were imme-diately shifted to GovernmentMedical College and Hospital,Jammu for treatment.

The injured have been iden-tified as Dwarka Nath Bhat(65), Anjali Bhat (35), SatishKumar Dhar (52) and KuldeepBhat (40).

A case in this connection hasbeen registered at concernedpolice station further investiga-tions are underway.

A police spokesman said23 year-old Bilal AhmadMagrey of Chill Bros inKhansahib village Budgamdistrict who was working withA to Z Company in Lehdrowned in Indus River nearIgg village.

"The body of deceased wasfished out. After completionof legal formalities the bodyof the deceased was handedover to his legal heirs for lastrites.

Police have initiatedinquest proceedings underSection 174 CrPC in thisregard," the spokesman added.
