Process and Implementation Documentation: A client implemented new analytics projects by hand, manually specifying each element of tracking.

This process was time consuming and error prone. Many opportunities for automation were missed. I created a set of templates for the analytics team, to be used to write documents providing the structure and output requirements to the developers, and leaving to them the details of the implementation. I supplemented these documents with documentation detailing methods for the developers to automate implementation processes.

Collect, Validate, and Document Business A client's process for implementing new data collection on its web site started with the business team

submitting to the analytics team a detailed breakout of how the site should be coded to collect data. A drawback of this procedure was that the analytics team was not validating the data collection to insure that it met the reporting needs of the business.

I introduced a new paradigm. We first discussed the goals of the business in tracking new activities, and I verified that the data collection methods available could collect the data needed to answer the questions. Using these discussions, I documented the business requirements and designed mock-ups of the proposed reporting. I collaborated with the business team to insure that I had properly captured the business requirements, and the reports I designed reflected the business' expectations. This new paradigm significantly streamlined the process, reduced the number of data collection errors, and reduced the number of times data collection had to be revisited to correct for those errors.

WEBTRENDS 2011 – 2013 Premier web analytics solution provider. Technical Account Manager Oversaw client management of web analytics solutions on a retainer basis.

• Project Coordination: A major retailer of women's products, headquartered in Paris and New York, was redesigning its online

product catalog, and its purchasing process. I coordinated the activities of the business and development teams to insure that business requirements were met, and I tested and validated all data collection procedures across the site. I adjusted my work schedule to be able to meet with the Paris team during their business hours; and, I

was on hand at midnight Sunday for the roll-out of the new site, at which time I again validated data collection, this time on the live site.

• Create and Deliver Training: A significant part of my role was providing training to clients. At one client, I conducted an all-day

session in the implementation of, advantages of, and security implications of, web tracking technology, to more than thirty business unit managers, who had been flown into the corporate headquarters in order to gather firsthand the necessary understanding to be able to add the technology to their business units.

TECHNOLOGY LEADERS 2008-2011 Web analytics and data management consultancy. Senior Web Analytics Consultant

Creative Problem Solver: A client approached my team with the requirement that a set of online manuals be tracked, stipulating that

the web site structure could not be changed. No additional code could be added to the site to meet the tracking requirements. I met this challenge by writing a module of tracking functions in JavaScript, using jQuery. All changes for recording data would be done on the fly, when the page loaded. This approached worked, and the client was able to get a complete accounting of how the online manuals were being used.

Data Analysis and Report Design Data collection of itself is not useful. One of my clients, a major financial investment group, implemented a

tracking process that simply collected data on every single user action on its web site. The anticipation was that, having collected everything, analysts could then choose what they wanted to use. As a practical matter, the analytics team had no way of knowing where to find specific information within this gigantic ball of data. I worked with the business to tailor their reporting requirements to the questions they were being asked, and I used this focused set of requirements to document the necessary data collection procedures. Then, I helped the analytics team design and configure the reports for these requirements.
