ICON ASSEMBLY

Last Friday 132 of our students were awarded Bronze Icon certificates at our first Icon Assembly. These awards recognise the consistent positive behaviour that has identified these students as 5C students throughout the first half of this year. Thank you to Mrs Emma Jeffrey who is our Director of Educational Leadership for delivering our 5Cs Address and congratulations to all of our Icon Award winners.

KL WORKING HARD IN MATHS GROUPS

KL have been working hard in Maths Groups with lots of different learning activities.

NETBALL KNOCKOUT

Our school netball team played against Smithtown PS last Thursday in Round 3 of the PSSA Knock Out. The girls came out firing and did not stop, defeating their team 35 goals to 1. Details of our next game will available soon.

CHPS MOBILE PHONES POLICY

Our school policy regarding mobile phones has always been around ensuring that students are appropriately supervised when using these devices. We understand that for many students there will be a need to contact parents and caregivers at the end of school days and have a process in place to enable this to happen for students. Our procedure for any student who needs to bring a phone to school is that they take this to the office first thing upon arriving at school and collect it at the end of the school day. Any contact needing to be made through the school day can be made with students by calling our office via the school number.

TREE LOPPING

This Friday while our students are at our annual Athletics Carnival Langham's Tree Services will be commencing tree works across our school. This is the result of our annual tree safety inspection and thankfully should not result in the removal of any trees and instead only the cutting back of dangerous branches and sections of trees around the school.

TEACHERS WORKING HARD ON STUDENT REPORTS

Over the last few weeks our teachers have been working hard looking over the results from many different assessments in order to write our 2019 Semester One reports. These reports will be sent on to Mr Lobb and Mr Dickinson at the end of this week for proofreading before being passed on to Mr Upcroft for a final read and printing. Reports will go home with students on the last day of Term 2 alongside our Arts and Writing Festival and NAIDOC Celebrations.

BOTTLE LID COLLECTION

During Semester Two, Stage Two are hoping to put together a bottle lid mural. In order for this art project to be successful, we are going to need as many bottle lids as possible. We are asking families to gather up their water, milk and soft drink bottle lids and bring them in to Miss Wickham. Stage Two thanks you for your contribution.

CANTEEN AT THE ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

The P&C will be running a Canteen at the Athletics Carnival with lots of yummy food available.

Tickets for the LNC Dance Festival are currently on sale. CHPS students will be dancing at this event on Monday 17th and in the showcase on Thursday 20th June with the show commencing at 7pm.

WATER RESTRICTION REMINDER

Kempsey Shire Council wishes to advise residents that Level 2 Water Supply Restrictions are now in force (effective from 3 June 2019). In times of low water availability, water restrictions can reduce water demands and conserve the amount of water currently in storage. Community support to conserve our scarce water resources is critical. The water restrictions apply to all properties serviced with reticulated water in the Kempsey Shire and, until further notice, the following restrictions are in force.

MUSICA VIVA – WYNISS – FRIDAY 28TH JUNE

From spinning tops to string figures, this wildly entertaining and colourfully costumed ensemble show how culture and history are passed on through singing and dancing. By comparing their own childhood games to those from the remote Torres Strait, students come to understand the importance of traditions, and to be thankful to those who teach them.

Musica Viva is bringing Wyniss to CHPS on Friday 28th June. Please return note and payment of $7 per child for this entertaining performance.

PLEASE LABEL JACKETS

As the cooler weather is now here and students are wearing their CHPS jackets to school, we ask that parents and carers check that jackets are clearly labelled with student’s name and that the jacket they have doesn’t belong to another student.

STAGE 2 - GLASSHOUSE PERFORMANCE ROALD DAHL’S ‘THE TWITS’ – TUESDAY 13T H AUGUST

Mr and Mrs Twit are the most horrible people ever to live on the earth and spend their days playing horrible tricks on each other. Their grotesque appearance is a reflection of their ugly thoughts and mean spirits.

Despite the fact that Mr and Mrs Twit like to play nasty tricks on each other, the book features one of Roald Dahl’s best-known quotes; "...if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely. ”

Stage 2 students have an opportunity to experience the new adaption of The Twits, it is Roald Dahl in his purest form – unsentimental, grotesque and a lot of fun. A comedy of rebellion and justice that is a high energy combination of storytelling, puppetry and physical theatre!

NORTH COAST BOYS AND GIRLS TOUCH TRIALS

Good luck to Tom Moffitt , Jade Lamb, Isabella Williams and Jessie Cornish who are trialling for the North Coast Boys and Girls Touch Football teams at Grafton today, 11th June.

CHPS ATHLETICS CARNIVAL THIS FRIDAY 14th JUNE

The Crescent Head Public School Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 14th June, 2019. The WHOLE SCHOOL, Kindergarten to Year 6, will be attending this carnival. The carnival will be held at the Kempsey Little Athletics Field (Services Park) Belgrave St, Kempsey. Buses will be travelling from school to the carnival in Kempsey and will return to Crescent Head in the afternoon. They will leave Crescent Head at 9.15am and will return to school before 3.00pm. To cover the cost of the buses, each child using this service will be required to pay a fare of $5.00. All notes were due back at the office by Friday 8th June including the $5 payment if you are using the bus service. CANTEEN ROSTER
