    The Cambridge Paranormal Society

Script for 24 pagesBy Mike Loniewski

    Page 1: 4 panels

Panel 1: Establishing shot. Wide, high angle shot of the American Museum of Natural

History at night. The streets are bustling with activity as people stream into the entranceof the museum. A large banner is draped in front announcing the grand opening of the

Egyptian Hall. Just a quick note, the year is 1910, so everything in this book is going tohave a stylish, classic feel to it. But more importantly, take artistic liberties. This will be a

fun little story, no need for too much accuracy. Cartoony is the feel. This is your versionof the world you are creating so have fun with it!

Caption: This entry follows the societys events on the evening of April 15th, 1913.

Caption: In our continued pursuit of the nefarious King Ahman, Vitra was able to

discern his final destination through her clairvoyant abilities. It seems his sarcophagus

was headed to the American Museum of Natural History, where it was to become apermanent fixture in their Egyptian Hall.

Panel 2: Wide angle shot inside the museum at the entrance of the Egyptian Hall. A large

crowd has gathered around a raised platform complete with podium. Large bannersoverhead announce the exhibit and its dates. At the podium is the museums curator, a

rather proud fellow in his early 50s. Directly to his left is a large sarcophagus, which hasbeen crafted to look very threatening. Feel free to make it as ominous as youd like. The

entire of the museum should be very large, with granite and marble structures with warmlighting. Various pieces of Egyptian art and displays have been placed all around.

Caption: Unable to intercept the sarcophagus en route, we were forced to confront the

    king in public.

Curator: And, finally, we would like to thank the very generous contributions from thearcheological society in Cairo, whose tireless efforts have brought many of the fine

artifacts you see before you this evening.

Panel 3: Medium shot of the proud curator, standing behind the podium, as he announces

the unveiling. The sarcophagus is right beside him.

Curator: Now, it is my great honor and pleasure to welcome you to the Egyptian Hall!

Panel 4: Close on the ominous sarcophagus.

    Caption: Our timing was impeccable.

    SFX: MUUUUUUHHHHHHH

Panel 1: Large panel. Angle on the Mummy, King Ahman, as he bursts out of hissarcophagus. The curator has turned in fright. Debris and dust from the shattered

sarcophagus fly everywhere. The Mummy is a haggard beast with reddish eyes peeringthrough his decaying bandages. He reaches for the curator with rotting, boney hands.

Since this is the first piece of action, my only request is to make it as dynamic as possible.

    Curator: Gahhh!

    Mummy: MMMRUUUUUUUHHHHHH

    SFX: BASH!

Panel 2: Angle on the Mummy as he has pulled the curator to his face by the mans throat.

    Mummy: Kneel before your KING.

    Curator: Gak!

Mr. Hammerwyck(Off Panel): Good evening, your highness

Panel 3: Full shot of the Cambridge Paranormal Society. Mr. Hammerwyck stands in themiddle, aiming his plasma musket toward us. It begins to hum with power and blue light

as it warms up. Mr. Beckwith stands to his right, his bow and arrow at the ready. Vitra isto his left, watching it all unfold with a menacing glare.

Mr. Hammerwyck: would you be so kind as to release the poor man?

Mr. Hammerwyck: He literally went Poof!

Mr. Beckwith: I definitely heard a Poof, sir.

Vitra: *Cough* Vere going to have to pay for that vall *Cough* Idiots.

Panel 4: Angle on Mr. Hammerwyck as he holds up a half full test tube and drops asingle drop of liquid into it from a medicine dropper.

Mr. Hammerwyck: Naturally. However, a skilled scientist exhibits patience and

professionalism. This is a time for seriousness young man. This particular concoction hastaken years to develop. Im prepared for many more.

Mr. Hammerwyck: There. Perfect. Vitra, lets have Mr. Pickles, please.

Vitra (Off-Panel): I took it easy on you.

Panel 2: Angle on Mr. Hammerwycks hand as he places the mouse inside a glass reptiletank. A large, venomous-looking snake slithers out from behind a rock.

hand extended. A group of two other policemen wait in the distance. Mr. Hammerwyckseems to be giving Sheriff Pudup the most attention. Vitra is staring off into the distance.

Mr. Beckwith is struggling to remove a large trunk from the carriage.

Caption: This entry documents the societys events from the 20th of April, 1910.

Caption: We arrived rather quickly after a frantic message from a Mr. Ronald Pudup, sheriff of Bradford Harbor, who requested our assistance with a bizarre murder. It seems

a local witch had fallen victim to foul play.

Sheriff Pudup: Mr. Hammerwyck? Welcome to Bradford Harbor. Thank you for comingso quickly.

Mr. Hammerwyck: Our pleasure. I just regret that we are visiting for such a grizzlymatter.

Panel 2: Angle on Mr. Hammerwyck and Sheriff Pudup as they shake hands.

Sheriff Pudup: I share that sentiment. Ms. Schaffers cottage is just up the knoll.

Panel 3: Angle on Sheriff Pudup and Mr. Hammerwyck as they walk toward us along apath. Vitra looms nearby as Mr. Beckwith struggles with the trunk behind them.

Sheriff Pudup: Everyone in town knew of Ms. Schaffer. Rumors here and there. Bizzarelights, green mist, that sort of thing. But, honestly I never had any trouble with the

    woman.

Sheriff Pudup: As for the church, thats a different story.

    Mr. Hammerwyk: Im sure.

Mr. Hammerwyck: Who discovered the body?

Panel 4: Wide angle shot from behind the group as they approach Ms. Schaffers modest

    cottage.

Sheriff Pudup: A local boy. Terrible thing, really. It seems he had befriended the oldwoman, helping her with chores around the cottage. Poor child found her torn to pieces.

Sheriff Pudup: I have to warn you. Father Talbot is very protective of his church. Hell

    see this as an intrusion.

Mr. Hammerwyck: We shall mind our manners then.

Panel 2: Wide angle shot inside the church, looking down the aisle to the alter where

Father Talbot is giving his sermon. The church is packed with parishioners that seem tohang on his every word. The church itself is in the classic New England mold, with fine

wood work throughout and stain glass windows.

Father Talbot: And in these times of peril, we turn to the lord. For guidance, forforgiveness. We turn to him with the hope that He will deliver us from the evil that has

besieged our parish, like the shepherd to his flock.

Father Talbot: We must prove our worth now. Live in the word of the Lord.

Panel 3: Medium shot as the society and Sheriff Pudup enter through the heavy, wooden

    doors of the church.

Father Talbot(Off Panel): Shine His light on this darkness. Drive it back to theshadows! The faithful do not waiver in the face of such evil!

Panel 4: Close on Father Talbot. He is an older gentleman with a rigid disposition to him.

He is not a warm fellow. He looks very serious and in this panel, the visitors have caughthis eye. He doesnt look too pleased.

Father Talbot: Sheriff Pudup. We do thank you for gracing us with your presence.

Would these be your friends from Cambridge?

Panel 3: Angle on Mr. Hammerwyck and Sheriif Pudup. Mr. Hammerwyck seems

    insulted.

    Mr. Hammerwyck: Pagan? Hardly.

Sheriff Pudup: Weve come to speak with young Timothy Lewiston.

Panel 4: Close on a shadowy image of young Charles. He sits between his parents. He sits

very sullen, we cant make out his features but he is sunken into his pew.

Father Talbot(Off Panel): Timothy has already given you his deposition, Ronald. Itstime to let him grieve among our parishioners. Its bad enough he fell prey to that

with rage. In her other arm is a massive, weathered, leather bound book with a brassbuckle latching it shut.

Panel 6: Close on Father Talbot.

Father Talbot: And you are quite familiar with that, arent you, Mr. Hammerwyck.

Father Talbot: You see, brothers and sisters, Mr. Hammerwyck is a fallen one. He

Panel 2: Medium shot as the society, Emily, and Sheriff Pudup exit the church and beginwalking down its steps.

Mr. Hammerwyck: Well, young lady, this has been a curious development. I was

unaware Ms. Schaffer had a daughter.

Emily: Yeah, well, we werent on the best of terms. But your mom is your mom.She carried you for nine months and went through hell to bring you into the world. You

would owe it to her to find the person who tore her up, wouldnt you?

Mr. Hammerwyck: Fair enough. May I ask how it is that you are in possession of thisbook and not your mother?

Panel 3: Close on a still fuming Emily.

Mr. Hammerwyck: Of course you are. The killer clearly wants that important familyheirloom of yours. Youve simply shown him where to find it.

Mr. Hammerwyck: Mr. Pudup? We will need a place to stay for the evening. A cozy inn
