The all-new Corolla Cross is fitted with a powertrain configuration that crosses power with efficiency, and performance with responsibility. All models are front-wheel driven and are powered by a four-cylinder, direct-injection 1.8-litre petrol engine that is seamlessly mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

THE 1.8 LITRE ENGINE PRODUCES MAXIMUM POWER OF 103 KW AT 6400 R/MIN AND PEAK TORQUE OF 172 NM @ 4000 R/MIN.

Average fuel consumption is measured at 6.8 l/100 km and CO2 emissions at 154 g/km CO2.


PERFORMANCE AND EFFICIENCY

And as the world leader in hybrid powertrain technology, Toyota is also offering the Corolla Cross in an ultra-economical petrol hybrid derivative.

In the hybrid models, power is recorded at 72 kW @ 5200 r/min, with a combined system output of the hybrid and conventional motor peaking at 90 kW. Torque figures on the hybrid derivative are recorded at 142 Nm @ 3600 r/min.

Because hybrid technology automaticallymanages the outputs of the petrol engine and electric motor to optimise its efficiency, this model achieves an average fuel consumption figure of just 4.3 l/100 km; and matching CO2 emissions of a mere 98 g/km.

For complete driver control and passengercomfort, the all-new Corolla Cross is equipped with MacPherson strut front suspension;and a torsion beam at the rear for sure-footed handling and extra load-carrying ability.

Modern, elegant and assertively styled, the front of the Corolla Cross features a distinctive black grille with granite grey* accents, flanked by striking LED* headlamps with Daytime Running Lights and an Auto High Beam* function. These sit above the front fog lamps that are integrated into the front apron. Rear fog lamps are available on selected models, with muscular black tones extending to the roof rails*. Viewed from the side, the Corolla Cross features noticeable fender flares, creating a sense of width, and complementing the sleek glass house and C-pillar trim. The alloy wheel design presents a strong but stylish appearance to complement its elevated ride height, made possible by the vehicle’s 161mm ground clearance.

The Xi and XS models come with 17” alloys and the XR models with striking 18” alloy wheels. The side mirrors on all models are colour-coded, electrically adjustable, and house the Blind Spot Monitor* warning indicator. Side and rear body cladding contribute to a powerful, rugged off-road appearance.

At the rear, large elliptical taillamps with trapezoidal detailing and crease lines provide a sleek and sophisticated look, flanking the rear door that has been designed for optimal ease of accessibility. The result is a vehicle providing an uncompromised cross between form and functionality.

Throughout the process of creating the vehicle, marginal improvements were made to ensure maximum cabin space, while intricate levels of design and planning went into the ergonomics of the vehicle for a superior level of comfort.

This resulted in a vehicle that ‘just feels right’. Occupants are rewarded with a spacious cabin that offers enhanced visibility with a stylish yet highly-ergonomic interior design.

Extraordinary levels of refinement are applied to every detail of the Corolla Cross, down to the stitching and interior finishes, to guarantee a quality feel and experience.

This extends further to the wide centre console that exudes a sense of simple sophistication, sporting easy-to-use switches. You’ll also find convenient switches on the multifunction steering wheel, leaving the driver in complete command of the audio system, Multi-Information Display, mobile phone operations, Voice Command*, Adaptive* Cruise Control and Lane Trace Assist*.

The touchscreen infotainment system in the Xs and XR models can be linked to smart devices through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. These apps mirror your phone on the vehicle’s infotainment screen. The cabin has been designed for optimal space and comfort. From the arm rest with extended sliding range to the back of the front seats’ concave-shape to increase rear passenger knee space and the use of space-optimised roof lining, everything in the Corolla Cross has been constructed to create an interior with a relaxed feel and room to move.

XR models are appointed with a choice of electrically operated seats covered in black or Terra Rosa partial leather, while the seats in the Xs models are trimmed in black partial leather. Xi models are furnished with durable, attractive cloth-covered seats.

The Corolla Cross is also equipped with Smart Entry, which allows occupants to enter or lock the vehicle without the key fob being removed from the driver’s pocket. Thereafter, the engine is keylessly powered on or off by the vehicle’s Push Start button.

Keeping all occupants cool no matter how hot outside, is taken care of by automatic dual-zone* air conditioning; and all windows have a one-touch opening and closing function – for those who prefer the freshness of the outdoors. AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM (AHB) Detects oncoming traffic and dims the main beams when a vehicle approaches before switching them back on again when it is safe to do so.

LANE KEEPING SYSTEMWhen lane deviation occurs, the driver is alerted with a buzzer, as well as a display on the Multi-Information Display. The system works in conjunction with the vehicle’s brakes, which will automatically endeavour to arrest any further departure from the lane.
