Just a 9 minute scenic drive from the Walmart traffic light on Old Hwy 19A lies the favorite watering hole of the locals for over a Century… yet today it remains a well-kept secret.New owners, Mur Le Sage and his three sons, Brandon, Mitch, and Warren have plans to change that and since under their management (May 2015) the results speak for themselves…It all starts with service and the Le Sage Family knows all too well the difference between what is presently available in the Comox Valley area compared to what they are providing at the Highwayman Saloon. In their words… “It’s not rocket science, just give the consumer what you would want yourself.” In the old days this was a lot easier than it is today for many reasons but Le Sage feels his team has what it will take to make the Highwayman Saloon the number one choice in the Valley.“We have already surpassed the rest when it comes to our food and our unmatched level of hospitality. This month marks our latest addition to the legendary room with the introduction of quality live entertainment on weekends. We all know

Johnny Cash Tribute Show

David James and Big River are often described as one of the most authentic Johnny Cash tribute shows touring today. Thousands of fans agree with those reviews, as they routinely sell out shows in venues large and small across Canada and the U.S.

James and his band – Todd Sacerty on bass, Duncan Symonds on guitar and pedal steel, and Colin Stevenson on drums – look and sound like the legacy of the Man in Black, and when they step on stage, they live

it. From the way Cash holds his guitar to the way he talks to his audience, the legendary musician lives again when James steps to the mike and says, “Hello – I’m almost Johnny Cash.”

James says “Why are we so good? We love what we do.” Fans say its the closet thing to Johnny Cash you’ll ever see. It doesn’t matter the size of the crowd – 100 or 1000 – these guys bring it.

David James and Big River appear live February 12, 7:30 PM at the Avalanche Bar & Grill in Courtenay.

On Monday, November 23rd, the Campbell River Men’s Bowling League was expecting a normal evening of bowling, good company, and some laughs. Instead, they experienced the making of Campbell River sports history. A perfect 300 point score by seasoned bowler, Shane Konkle. This is actually Shane’s 4th perfect game, adding to his Canadian national team event bronze medal from his years of bowling in Ontario. Shane also won awards

last year for 1st place in the BC provincial Men’s Doubles and Mixed Teams hosted here in the newly upgraded Campbell River Bowling Centre.Owner, Ian Fong, picked up the ball in 2013 and came out of retirement to manage the centre himself. A passionate long term bowler, Ian was

sure that Campbell River and surrounding area could support a bowling centre if they had a great one. Ian invested over one million dollars in upgrades, new lanes, new equipment, new floors, new kitchen, and he is not done.

Other bowlers like Shane will start to get the results from dedicated bowling

with the right materials and well maintained lanes. Bowlers are always needed and welcomed for all 5 and 10 pin

leagues.
