RECORD START BEHIND THE BENCH Patrick Roy led the Avalanche to a 6-0-0 start, tying the NHL record for consecutive wins by a head coach to begin his career.  MarioTremblay also won his first six games with the Montreal Canadiens in 1995-96.  Roy went on to become the first coach in NHL historyto win 14 of his first 16 career games and one of only two coaches in league history to win 12 of his first 13 (Marc Crawford, Quebec,1994-95).  Roy posted 15 wins in his first 20 games behind the bench, tying him with Dan Bylsma (15-2-3) for the second-most winsamong active coaches through their first 20 career games.  Only Todd McLellan (16-3-1) won more.  The Roy-led Avalanche were thefastest team to reach 20 wins in franchise history (27th game) and matched the franchise record for most wins (21) through the first 30games of a season. FAST START A look at the Avalanche's hot start to the season... •   Opened the season 6-0, by far the club's best start since the team moved to Denver in 1995 and one shy of the franchise record (7-0     in 1985-86). •   Each of Colorado's six wins and each of San Jose's first six victories this year came in regulation, the first NHL teams to begin a     season with six consecutive regulation victories since the 1996-97 Dallas Stars. •   12-1-0 record in the first 13 games, becoming one of only five teams in NHL history to win 12 of their first 13 contests (2007-08     Senators, 2005-06 Red Wings, 1994-95 Nordiques and Penguins). •   10-1-0 in October, earning 20 out of a possible 22 points.  That .909 points percentage was the best of any month in franchise      history (min 10 GP).  The 10 victories matched the franchise record for wins in the month of October (10-2-2 in 2009). •   Colorado finished 9-5-0 in November, matching their most wins in the month of November in franchise history.  The 2003-04 team     went 9-3-2-1 in November of that year. •   The Avalanche led outright or shared the division lead for a total of 43 consecutive days from Oct. 3 to Nov. 14. YOUNGEST CAPTAIN Gabriel Landeskog, 21, is the youngest current captain in the league.  Landeskog was named team captain on Sept. 4, 2012, becomingthe youngest captain in NHL history (19 years, 286 days).  He was 11 days younger than Sidney Crosby, who was 19 years, 297 dayswhen he was named captain of the Penguins on May 31, 2007.

HISTORIC DEBUT Nathan MacKinnon made his NHL debut at the age of 18 years, 31 days on Oct. 2, making him the youngest player in franchisehistory.  He was over 200 days younger than the previous record holder, Owen Nolan, who was 18 years, 235 days when he debutedfor Quebec on Oct. 4, 1990 at Hartford.  MacKinnon picked up a pair of assists in that debut for his first career points.  He became theyoungest NHL player to record two or more points in a game since January 8, 1944, when Toronto's Ted Kennedy had four points(1g/3a) against the Bruins at the age of 18 years, 27 days. Seven Wild players were named to pre-Olympic rosters for their native countries: Zach Parise and Ryan Suter (USA), NiklasBackstrom, Mikael Granlund and Mikko Koivu (Finland), Jonas Brodin (Sweden) and Nino Niederreiter (Switzerland). Mike Yeo was named the Minnesota Wild’s third Head Coach on June 17, 2011. He led the Wild back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2013 aftera five-year absence. Minnesota has posted a record of 79-66-19 (.540) during his three seasons as Head Coach. Yeo, the youngest HeadCoach in the NHL, helped lead the Wild’s previous primary affiliate, the Houston Aeros, to a 46-28-1-5 record and the Calder Cup Final in hisfirst season as a Head Coach in 2010-11. The Aeros led the Western Conference and ranked third in the AHL with 46 regular season wins afterit did not qualify for the playoffs in 2010. Yeo served as an Assistant Coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins (2005-10). During his tenure inPittsburgh, the Penguins claimed the 2007-08 Atlantic Division title, advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals twice and won the 2009 Stanley Cupchampionship. He joined the Penguins coaching staff when Michel Therrien was named Head Coach on Dec. 15, 2005.
