College: A New Beginning
High School Vs. College
Personal Freedom
• High school is mandatory and free (unless you choose other options)
• Your time is structure by others.
• Your parents and teachers often remind you of your responsibilities and help you set your priorities.
• College is voluntary and expensive.
• You manage your own time.
• You are responsible for your decisions and setting your priorities.

• Guiding Principle in School– You will usually be told what your
responsibilities are and corrected if your behavior is out of line.

what you don’t do as well as for the consequences of your decisions.
Classes High School• Most of your classes are
arranged for you.
• Teachers normally monitor your attendance.
• You spend 6 hours a day-30 hours per week in class.
• Each day you move from one class to another.
• You are provided with textbooks at little or no expense.
College• You arrange your own schedule
with an academic advisor.• Some professors may not take
daily attendance (most will), but they are likely to know if you were in class or not.
• You spend 12 to 16 hours each week in class.
• You often have hours between classes; class times vary throughout the day and evening.
• You must budget your money for your books. Books can cost as much as $200.00 per semester.

• Communicate with your professors daily.
• Professors are normally open and helpful, but most expect you to ask for help or tutoring.
• Complete your assignments in a timely fashion.

• Seek out positive relationships.
• Be aware of other cultures and what makes them different.
• Surround yourself with good People and Good things will always happen!

• Spend and Buy wisely.
• Avoid Credit Cards (Debt).
• Work if you can.

• Leadership is about followership.
Make sure the followers have the inspiration and determination to complete the task.
• You will never fail until you quit.

• Surround yourself with Achievers not Non-Acheivers.
