• An obsessive-addictive disorder in which a person becomes overly involved with eh details of a celebrity’s personal life.

• Types– Entertainment-social– Intense-personal– Borderline-pathological

Entertainment Social

• Comprises of fans that are attracted to their favorite celebrity because of their perceived ability to entertain and become a social focus

• “I love to talk with others who admire my favorite celebrity.”

Intense-personal

• Reflects intensive and compulsive feelings about the celebrity, akin to the obsessional tendencies of fans often referred to in the literature

• “I share with my favorite celebrity a special bond that cannot be described in words.”

Borderline-pathological

• Typified by uncontrollable behaviors and fantasies regarding scenarios involving their celebrities

• “I have frequent thoughts about my favorite celebrity, even when I don’t want to.”

Solutions

• Pursue a realistic passion.• Come to the realization that celebrities don’t

look how you see them on TV, at all times of the day.

• Learn to accept yourself.• Be the star in your life
