It was a great day with lots of students participating for the first time and others swimming PB’s. Thanks to Miss Dixon and primary staff for another well organised event and thanks to all our parents who helped out on the day, we couldn’t do it without you! There will be a full report and results in this week’s newsletter. At the end of last year staff and parents were invited to participate in a customer service survey. We had 51 responses. The feedback report identified several key strengths: Engagement with others - Members of our school community are invited to and encouraged to engage in a wide-range of school activities. Information - Quality and ease of use - I can easily access information about school activities that is clear. Engagement with others - School staff appear to be self- confident and welcoming. The feedback report also identified some key areas for development. These are the categories where the school was rated down: Engagement with others - I am often asked about how well the school communicates and engages with me. Collaboration is valued and recognised - I see administrative staff at my school reflecting on the school culture and working together to implement improvements. Customer service - Administrative staff place a high priority on maintaining positive customer relationships. We have taken into consideration all the feedback from this survey and we will endeavour to continually improve customer relations with our staff, parents and community. There will be another opportunity to provide feedback again this year when we participate in the Tell Them From Me Survey which we did 2 years ago. This survey gave us valuable information which helped develop our current school plan. Have a great week! Principal’s message Congratulations to everyone who participated in the swimming carnival last Friday. It was a great day with lots of students participating for the first time and others swimming PB’s. Thanks to Miss Dixon and primary staff for another well organised event and thanks to all our parents who helped out on the day, we couldn’t do it without you! There will be a full report and results in this

week’s newsletter. At the end of last year staff and parents were invited to participate in a customer service survey. We had 51 responses. The feedback report identified several key strengths:

• Engagement with others - Members of our school community are invited to and encouraged to engage in a wide-range of school activities.

• Information - Quality and ease of use - I can easily access information about school activities that is clear.

• Engagement with others - School staff appear to be self-confident and welcoming.

The feedback report also identified some key areas for development. These are the categories where the school was rated down:

• Engagement with others - I am often asked about how well the school communicates and engages with me.

• Collaboration is valued and recognised - I see administrative staff at my school reflecting on the school culture and working together to implement improvements.

• Customer service - Administrative staff place a high priority on maintaining positive customer relationships.

Swimming CarnivalWe were extremely lucky with our weather this year and we couldn’t have asked for a nicer day. Congratulations to all children who participated, we saw lots of fantastic swimming and also great cheering from the side. Gaps in the results chart may indicate no entries or a disqualification. First and second place have made it through to District in each event. Place ribbons will be handed out at this Friday’s assembly at 1.50pm.Children who have made it through to District have their name highlighted in the results. Grenfell Public are hosting the Cowra District Carnival at Grenfell. This will be held on Friday 22nd February from 9am-3pm. Attendance Parents need to be aware that our school operates under very strict guidelines from the NSW government concerning the attendance of students. A child must attend school every day of a scheduled school year. It is a parent’s responsibility to ensure that this happens, and it is the school’s responsibility to keep accurate records of attendance. The school is not permitted to approve leave for any reason other than illness, exceptional family circumstances or occasional absence for elite sporting or cultural participation. I appreciate that this may seem severe, but all schools must adhere to these guidelines. Most leave, other than sick will be designated as “explained but unjustified”. Please call the school or send a note in within 3 days of absence. Mobile PhonesIn line with the Department of Education our school is adhering to the guidelines set by the NSW government. Mobile phones are not permitted to be brought to school by students at any time. If you need to contact your child or vice versa they can go to the office to receive or make a call. Any mobile phone that is found at school will be confiscated and will need to be collected by parents at the next available opportunity. Student IllnessA friendly reminder to all parents/ carers to keep your children home from school if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms: temperature, fever, rash, excessive coughing, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. These are all indicators that your child is unwell and can be contagious which will spread the bacteria or virus to other students and teachers. Thank you for your understanding.

Book ClubOrders close Friday 15th February 2019.The school does not accept payments via cash or cheque. All orders MUST be paid via LOOP.

The ‘Christ Our Light and Life’ program is the resource used. Further information by contacting Deb 63442490 or [email protected]

Combined SRE – Provides age appropriate learning on select Biblical themes, stories, characters and history. These offer insight and wisdom for responding to real life issues in today’s complex world. A focus is made on relating to others and getting along in the playground. More information on the curriculum at www.godspace.org.au

Primary Ethics SEE - The program is designed into age appropriate topics and the focus is increasing the students’ confidence with critical thinking and moral reasoning skills. THANK YOU We had our first meeting of the year last week and it was so great to see some new faces along with our fabulous committee from last year. Thank you to all those that came.

AGM Our AGM is next month on Monday 4th March. We will meet at 7pm in the staffroom and this will be followed by a general meeting.

All executive positions will be made vacant. These include President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary. We are always after general members too – without these, we get very little done!!

New members are always very welcome. New ideas and fresh perspectives are what we need to keep rolling!

SHADE COVER What a lovely sight to see with the new shade sail being installed during the holidays. This was made possible by the many fundraising activities that took place in 2018.

COMING UP Monday 4th March – 7.00pm – P&C AGM and General Meeting. Held in the staffroom. All welcome. We would love to see you there!!
