Field Lessons This year, all Academy scholars will go on two field lessons. One field lesson will be to the San Antonio Museum of the Arts and the other will be to an educational location in San

Antonio. The chart below shows the special field lessons that each grade level will participate in this upcoming year.

The cost of both field lesson is $20 if your scholar is in PreK-4th grade and $30 if they are in 5th grade. This fee can be paid at Report Card Night.

Renaissance Home ConnectDo you want to know how your scholar is progressing

toward their goal of becoming a Royal Reader? If so, join Renaissance Home Connect. This program allows parents to log in and see what books their scholars have tested on, the score they received, and their overall word count. An informational letter will be sent out by our AR Zone Facilitator, Ms. Gutierrez. It explains how to access and login to Renaissance Home Connect. We highly encourage all parents to

sign up, so they can become more involved in

our Accelerated Reading program.

Keeping Items from Home at HomeWe’ve noticed that some scholars are bringing items from home such as toys, cards, permanent markers, electronics, make-up and other personal items. These items are not allowed at the school because they are distracting and at times unsafe to the school environment. We ask that you talk to your scholar about keeping items such as these at home and check your scholar’s backpack to make sure they are only bringing necessary items to school. If scholars take these items out during the school day, our teachers will pick them up and keep them until a parent can come in to pick them up. Thank you for your help in keeping our school safe and focused.

Uniform Expectations ChangeThis year, we’re making a change to our uniform policy. Mondays will now be our college/spirit t-shirt and jeans day; Fridays are regular uniform days.

AM PreK Pick Up Please remember Pre-K AM pick up is between 11:10 – 11:30. Any scholar that is not picked up at 11:30 will be sent to the front office. Starting on Tuesday, September 4,

August 27, 2018any scholar who is picked up after 11:30 am will be charged a late fee pick up. The first 30 minutes is $5.00 and $10.00 for the next 30 minutes after that. We ask that you make proper arrangements to pick up within the allotted time frame.

3rd – 5th Grade ELA Novel Bundles - $25This year, our scholars in 3rd

– 5th grade will be purchasing the novels that they will read during the year. We’ve made this change because this will allow scholars to read at home and annotate as they read (underline, highlight, etc…). The cost of the novels is $25. If you have not yet paid for your scholar’s novel, you can send in the money to your scholar’s fiction reading teacher (3rd – Fernandez/Summey, 4th – Morren, 5th – Cardenas).
