The New Jersey Department ofHomeland Security, as well as state andlocal authorities, are working to ensureprotection of New Jersey’s LGBT com-munities following Sunday’s deadlyshooting at the Pulse Orlando night-club, said Christian Fuscarino, founderof The Pride Network and executive di-rector of Garden State Equality, a NewJersey advocacy organization forLGBT people.

“This devastating attack on theLGBT community, the largest massshooting in U.S. history, is a reminderof the minds that need to be opened andhearts that need love,” Fuscarino saidin an email.

An armed shooter opened fire in the

packed nightclub Sunday and killed 50people and injured 53 more in what au-thorities are calling the deadliest massshooting in the nation’s history, and whatPresident Barack Obama denounced as a“horrific massacre” and an act of terrorand hate.

Gov. Chris Christie tweeted that hewas outraged by the “senseless” mur-ders.
