Borough officials have a suggestion: If you’re not attending the Gentle- men of the Road Stopover music festival, visit an- other town’s beach instead. The massive festival, headlined by Mumford & Sons and featuring Alabama Shakes, Dawes and The Flaming Lips along with numerous other bands, is expected to draw a crowd of 30,000 to 35,000 to Seaside Heights this weekend. The mes- sage on the borough’s website is as clear as it is unusual: “If you are not participating as a festival guest or employee of one of our businesses we ask that you please consider visiting Seaside Park and Lavallette between June 4-6.” Starting Thursday — for the first time — Sea- side Heights’ beaches will be closed for the dura- tion of the festival. Seaside Park beaches will hon- or Seaside Heights beach badges this weekend. A festival pass or wristband will also be required to enter the boardwalk between Grant and Porter avenues before 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Showander Descarte, 24, of Ridgeway Road in Man- chester, has been charged with creating a false public alarm and terroristic threats, according to a release from Toms River police and the Ocean County Prose- cutor’s Office. She remains in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
