    When she wasn't claimed by herowner, Shelter Manager Megangett went about the usual steps toare Kuki for adoption; She gavehe standard vaccines, and evalu-her temperament to determine kind of home would be a goodh for Kuki. Next, Megan wouldscheduled an appointment with a

    o have her spayed but Kuki was inso she stayed at the shelter for awhile waiting. As it turns out, that

    n't the only thing that would delayi's re-homing; she was pregnant!s when maternity planning kicked in.ssy LaPointe, expert foster volun-

    took Kuki home, where she settledr the rest of her pregnancy. "Kukia good girl. She had a very quirkyonality," Missy says. "She was atomaniac. She would steal any-g that wasn't nailed down and hideher bed." That included pieces ofr (like the mail), rolls of tape,s, pens, tape dispensers if it wasKuki's bed was the first place thely looked. Fortunately she had

    good, playful humor about giving upher treasures.

    On September 25, Kuki deliveredseven adorable, healthy pups, sur-rounded by the LaPointe family. Shedid a good job of raising her puppies,and enjoyed vigorously cleaning them,which often involved knocking themover and rolling them around on thefloor. The LaPointes and family friendsdid a great job socializing them, and thepuppies were all adopted into lovinghomes. On December 16, Kuki found agreat home of her own with AshleyBattaini. "Kuki was an early Christmaspresent from my boyfriend, Steve. She

    has wonderful manners and she learnsfast. Overall, she's a sweetheart and weare so lucky to have her in our lives."

    A dog arrives at the shelter and younever know what's next. Sometimesthey're returned to their owner the verysame day. Sometimes, it's an adventure!

    Kuki was a good girl. She had very quirky personality.

    Kuki enjoyed counter-surfing even just hours before she delivere

    Kukis puppies got great socialization, including a visit from Genev

    sat with them in their crate.
