Liquid is pumped</p><p>using two diaphragms fixed to both ends of a centre rod. The rod is actuated by air</p><p>pressure. Four simple ball valves are used to control the circuit. Compressed air enters</p><p>air chamber A (shown above), moving the center rod to the right, forcing liquid out of</p><p>liquid chamber A, while at the same time drawing liquid into liquid chamber B. The solid lines plot the relationship between the dischargehead and the discharge volume at different supplied airpressures.</p><p>2. First determine which curve corresponds to the desired airpressure. For example if the air pressure you plan to use is0.5 MPa use the solid curve marked 0.5 MPa.</p><p>3. Next you must determine the desired discharge volume andthe required discharge head. For example if the requiredvolume is 30 L/Min with a discharge head of 30m you wouldfollow the appropriate straight axis to the point at whichthey meet, (point A).</p><p>4. This point falls inside the area defined by the 0.5MPa curveindicating that a pump (e.g. DP-20F) is adequate for thedesired discharge volume and discharge head. </p><p>5. If your required discharge volume is 35 L/min and thedischarge head is 30m the point where the axiss meet,(point B) is outside the area defined by the 0.5 MPa curveindicating that such a pump is inadequate. In this case apump with a larger capacity (e.g. DP-25F) must be used.</p><p>6. The dashed lines plot curves for different air consumption</p><p>valves given in liters per min. Because point (A) describedabove is slightly over the 400Nl/m air consumption curve, ithas an approximate air consumption of 420Nl/m. </p><p>The performance curves above are of a pump using freshwater (1cPa.S,S.G.1.0) and flat suction, in normal conditions. The pumps discharge performance varies under differentconditions. Also when the pumpsperformance was measured, a suction pipe wasnt connected to the inlet port.
