From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973.

Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song &

praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled.

We hope you will visit us often and worship with us!

(If you’d like more information about us or would like to join our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket!)

NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, address and we’ll contact you about joining us.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places

through the Immaculate Virgin Mary.

How has God blessed you? Are you using your gifts according to God’s plan; helping to do His work here on earth? Remember that if you don’t do the work God planned for you, no one else can do it.

Isaiah 62:1-5: A young man, a builder, a bridegroom...all roles played by the Lord in this intimate expression of relationship with the chosen people. Jerusalem has no choice but to revel in the boundless love that envelopes her. Few passages in the bible equal this one as a statement of the degree and kind of love that motivates us.

1 Corinthians 12:4-11: Paul sets out to teach what every Christian community throughout the ages needs to learn: that the gift itself is less important than the giver and the recipient...and the purpose for which the Holy Spirit imbues us with grace.

John 2:1-11: The Cana event foretells the way in which Jesus will accomplish his mission, namely, by shedding his blood on the cross. The most oblivious foreshadowing is Jesus’ response to Mary’s request: “My time has not yet come.” In other words, it was not yet time to reveal his identity and mission completely. The miracle itself, changing the water into wine means (for us all) the old testament covenant between heaven and earth will be changed into something entirely new.

Ministers Taking Eucharist to Those Not With Us

Presider: Let us send these ministers to those who could not be with us.

Response: Receive the Body of Christ for the nourishment of those who are not here with us. Assure our friends of our prayers and blessings throughout the week.

CELL PHONES: Out of respect for the liturgy, please silence all cell phones. Thank you!

This weekend we will be listening to an audio message from Archbishop Schnurr explaining how our support each year of the Catholic Ministries Appeal is part of our commitment to our faith, and asking every Catholic household to make a pledge. Thanks to the generosity of many families here at Queen of Apostles Community, your contributions to the 2015 CMA will help our local ministries. This year, our goal is $9,064.00. Every registered household should receive a CMA mailing from Archbishop Schnurr. Please prayerfully complete your pledge card and return it in the envelope provided, or bring your completed pledge card sealed in its return envelope to Mass. Your participation is vital to reaching our parish goal. For more information, please visit www.CatholicAppeal.info. Thank you!!!

MID WINTER REVIVAL - POT LUCK SUPPER & GAME NIGHT: Now that winter is truly upon us we need to lighten and brighten our spirits. What better way than with a good old pot luck supper and friendship, stimulating conversation and some games, Saturday, Jan 30th. Activities start in Si Lounge at 5:00 PM with snacks and beverages. Chuck Bauer will provide some oven baked chicken and several decks of cards. Ruby will provide the board games and dominoes. Bring your full money/change purse so Pat can lighten it for you. Sign ups will take place after Mass on Jan 17th & Jan 24th. Let us know what you will be bringing for the supper or festivities. Or call Chuck at 426-7260.

DEAR FRIENDS OF QAC. I realize that QAC is not an inner city parish, however, I am making a request on behalf of the women in the inner city of Dayton. I am a member of a Prostitution Intervention Committee. Oasis House, known for their advocacy for women in crisis, is opening a Drop In Center at their location on Findlay Street. They are welcoming women who are in crisis. These women can come and take a shower, get a new pair of sweats and a welcome bag. This bag will contain soap, small cosmetics, tooth paste, tooth brush...The women will be offered hot coffee, hot tea, and a cup of hot soup. At this point, they need dry soup in a cup to which they can add hot water, individual tea bags, hot chocolate packets and coffee. Oasis House staff also asks for prayers...If you assist with any of these, I will collect them after Mass and bring them to Oasis House. Thanks a million...Sister Rose Martin, SC.

QAC ASSISTED LISTENING DEVICE: Many of you may not be aware that we have an assisted listening device that includes 6 receivers with headphones. The headsets are located behind the wall next to the choir. The device is tied into our sound system and transmits what is spoken into any of our microphones. We are exploring an upgrade and want to know the needs of the community. The system we are considering (http://www.williamssound.com/large-area-fm) will allow us to add additional receivers to meet future needs and provide different headset options. If you would use an assisted listen device, please let Kevin Skinner know at [email protected]. Also include the type of headset option (Earbuds, Single headphone, dual headphone, Neck loop (T-Coil, Bluetooth capability)) that would work best for your situation.

WEDDING ANNIVERSARY SCROLLS: Couples celebrating their 25th, 50th, 60th, 70th or 75th wedding anniversary during 2016 are eligible for the Archbishop’s Wedding Anniversary Scroll. To receive a scroll, please contact the QAC office ([email protected]) to acknowledge your anniversary and receive a scroll.

PRAYERS FOR THOSE IN OUR RCIA PROGRAM: For the past several months Charlotte and Ryan Repasy have been learning, praying, and preparing to become a part of our Catholic Christian community. We ask the prayers of our community for them as they travel through this very important journey of learning and discernment.
