Dear President,

The Portuguese Federation of Sportive Fishing has the honour

to invite the Clubs representing your Country, to take part in

the 28th World Championship Shore Angling for Clubs, that will

be held in Albufeira from 24th to 31st of October 2020.

Portugal is a welcoming place and sportive fishing is a sport

practiced by thousands of Portuguese, that have in their

Federation the affirmation of their commitment to be, once

more, stage to this great International event, mirroring the feeling of our anglers in welcoming the

ones who will grace us with their participation.

In the name of FPPD, and in my personal name, I wish all who visit us a great stay and that this

Championship reach your expectations and in an environment of peace, fair-play and, above all,

Welcoming Message

We are very pleased to welcome in our city the 28th World

Championship Shore Angling for Clubs. Albufeira is a city facing

the sea and this is, without doubt, our main attraction. We have

about 30 kilometres of coast, with all the beaches certified with

“Blue Flag”, sine of environmental excellence. We are, for all

those reasons, one of the main beach destinations of our

country.

But Albufeira is way more than that. Every day we have more

activities and attraction factors, which last way longer than the

bathing season and make Albufeira a destination to have in

account all year long.

Sport in general and Sportive fishing particularly give their contribution for the valorisation of our

destiny. It’s good to know that we are searched to receive the various sportive competitions which

make a great impact in the socioeconomic development of Albufeira.

This Championship is another happy example of this reality and, as such, it couldn’t be carried out

without our support. This being a World Championship that with have a great sportive component,

but it’s also an unique experience, for the social component and to represent the opportunity to join

so many and good competitors.

To all the involved, I wish a great stay, that everything runs in the best way and that in the end you

feel a little bit closer to Albufeira.

Competition Venues

Tomates Beach

The Tomates Beach is also known as

the west part of the Rocha Baixinha

Beach and it’s situated inside the

bigger Falésia Beach extended on

the long coast. Here, the occidental

cliff loses its original and imponent

height, giving space to vegetation.

Salgados Beach

With an extensive sandy area, the

Salgados Beach contrasts with the

other Albufeira Beaches for the

landscape diversity, as instead of

cliffs, the background of this beach is

formed by a cord of golden dunes.

Beyond the dunes, it’s the Salgados

Lagoon, point of passage of numerous

migratory birds.

Rocha Baixinha Beach

The Rocha Baixinha Beach is a calm

zone at the extreme east of the

extensive Falésia Beach. Close to the

Marina of Vilamoura, one of the poles

of great animation in the Algarve Area,

this beach is divided is two areas: west

and east.

The environmental quality of this beach

was recognized by the attribution of

the blue flag.

ESSENTIAL ANTI-DOPING ADVICE Athletes are reminded if they take any medication they must check it against the WADA Prohibited

Substance & Methods list.

Particular attention must be paid to the use of anti- hypertensive agents, especially diuretics,

which are popular in singular preparation and/or in a combination with other normally permitted

drugs.

Diuretics are always forbidden.

For these reasons, it is necessary for every athlete or National Federation to check the list for

prohibited substances and process a TUE as necessary. The Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) must

be granted before taking a prohibited medication.

An application for a TUE must be requested 30 days before taking part in the championships. The

application forms must be filled in carefully with your physician/doctor who must authorise the

application. A physician’s certificate or prescription on its own does not mean that the athlete has

permission to use the prohibited substance or method.

The application should be completed either in English or French and sent directly to the office of

the CIPS President.
