    Buckhead Turns Its Spring Cleaning GreenBuckheads Eco Collection Helps Residents &Businesses Dispose of Hazardous Materials

    ATLANTA January 23, 2013 For the third year in arow, Buckhead will have a chance to start its spring

    cleaning the right way at Buckheads Eco Collectionon March 23rd. This event will give area residents,commercial properties and businesses theopportunity to easily and safely dispose of all theitems theyve wanted to get rid of, but arent safe forregular trash pick-up.

    Buckheads Eco Collection is presented by AtlantaCity Council Representatives Howard Shook andYolanda Adrean, organized by Livable Buckhead andLive Thrive and supported through the generosity of

    the Rotary Club of Buckhead. The Eco Collection willhave experts available to properly dispose of orrecycle items such as old electronics, householdchemicals, unused paint, expired over-the-counterand prescription medicine, batteries, fluorescent lightbulbs and important documents that need to beshredded.

    We are excited to once again offer the Buckheadcommunity this opportunity to properly dispose ofthose items they know they shouldnt throw in the

    trash, said Denise Starling, executive director ofLivable Buckhead. In 2012, we collected more than70,000 lbs of materials for recycling and disposal.This year we hope area residents, businesses andcommercial properties will help us surpass thatamazing amount.

    Experts will be available on Saturday, March 23rd tohelp Buckhead residents unload and properlydistribute items at 515 Garson Dr. Buckhead areabusinesses and commercial properties can also

    participate in electronics and secure paper shreddingrecycling in the weeks prior to the event. Businessesand commercial properties wanting to participateshould contact Scott Cantrell [email protected], to schedule a pickup time. Paint, householdchemicals and medication disposal and certain other items will onlybe available to residents.

    To participate, residents must pre-register by visitingwww.livablebuckhead.org after March 1. Availability is limited and will beassigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligible ZIP codes for bothresidents and businesses include: 30305, 30309, 30318, 30319, 30324,30326, 30327, 30342.

    Electronics recycling will be done by Reworx, and benefits theTommy NobisCenter which enables individuals with all types of disabilities to enter orreturn to employment and to enjoy productive and independent lifestyles,

    while contributing to the greater business community. Since 1977, theTommy Nobis Center has helped more than 22,000 individuals find dignityand success in the workplace.

    Additional vendors providing disposal services for Buckheads Eco Collectioninclude Clean Harbors Environmental Services, Iron Mountain, and RockTenn.
