The “social” in social media means engagement or active participation in mutual interaction between you and other users belonging to the same social media sphere where you’re operating. 88% of people do not want to
interact with brands, so when you do, make it as satisfying as possible.

This number is estimated to reach 89.4% by 2017.

Digital Marketers should come to realize that Social Media Marketing all boils down to the basics of why social media networks were created in the first place – to provide a platform where people can interact with other people. These people are brought together through a a particular point of engagement which is usually published content in the form of a picture, video, or article.
Breaking It Down
What It All Means Out of 7.3 Billion people on the planet, 3.4 Billion are using the internet. Within that 3.4 Billion,
about 2.4 Billion are active on Social Media. From what we’ve seen, Facebook is dominating with 1,650 Millions active monthly users.
10yrs ago only 7% of the American population used Social Media. That number has not grown to 65%.
Best Engagement Platforms
In order to meaningfully compare social platforms’ engagement levels
One must always compare how effective each social platform is at driving attention on a per-user basis. While Snapchat’s monthly active user base is estimated to be slightly smaller than Twitter, the photosharing app is 5x more effective at engaging users.
