We have addressed the patterns of racialized marginalization and dehumanization of women, children, and communities of color from a lens of labor participation and justice, educational opportunity, health disparities, consequences of mass incarceration, reproductive justice, gender and racial identity.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” (Matthew 5:6 NRSV)

SDPC established the Micah Institute & Ministerial Excellence Fund with the support of Lilly Endowment, Inc. and including a matching-grant opportunity for donations of cash and in-kind resources from supportive individuals, congregations and organizations to strengthen, heighten and sustain ministerial leadership effectiveness in some of the nation’s most challenged communities.

We cannot afford to lose clergy. They are pillars of hope to families, our communities and our nation. We need a shift – to a theology of sufficiency.

The Samuel Dewitt Proctor Conference, Inc. (SDPC) established the Addie Wyatt-Bill Lucy Labor and Justice Institute in 2005, with linkages and focuses on issues of human rights, worker justice and child advocacy. The Institute embraces the principle that we must be

global in our vision and local in our organizing. The Institute is a collaboration between the SDPC, United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), and the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU).

In what is called “the birthplace and the deathbed of the Confederacy,” a historic marker remembering the brutal lynching of Andrew Crawford was unveiled in Abbeville, SC, one

hundred years after his death. SDPC was a participant and partner in the event, along with Equal Justice Initiative and We Say Enough Campaign, conducting a service of consecration as

a part of SDPC’s recently launched “Sacred Memory Project.”
