Position Description:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the

skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military

operations. This is a term appointment, made for an initial period of 13 months. The

appointment may be extended up to a total of 4 years, in increments of time of 1 year or

less." Term positions cannot be made permanent without further competition. This

position is located with US Army Central G37 Security Cooperation Section,

International Military Affairs, Shaw Air Force Base, SC. Shaw Air Force Base is located

just outside Sumter, SC.

Responsibilities:

• Studies and analyzes international security affairs in order to be prepared to

contribute to the development of Central Command (CENTCOM) and Armed

Forces Central (ARCENT) strategic guidance documents;

• Studies the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and State Department

processes used to develop ARCENT strategy and policy;

• Studies, reviews and analyzes Army publications pertinent to international affairs,

such as Theater Security Cooperation (TSC) and makes recommendations for

change; and

• Serves as technical consultant to ARCENT Staff agencies, MACOMs, and Army

Based in Washington DC, with domestic and international travel. Consideration will be

given to candidates based elsewhere. Working at the intersection of technology policy,

human rights and corporate social responsibility, the Global Network Initiative (GNI)

seeks an energetic and experienced policy professional with a strong commitment to free

expression and privacy and a desire to engage directly with internet and

telecommunications companies and other stakeholders to build a global human rights

standard supporting responsible company responses to government requests that impact

the free expression and privacy rights of users.

The Policy Director will ideally be based in Washington DC. Reporting to the

Executive Director based in Amsterdam, he or she will also work closely with GNI’s

Communications and Outreach Director, the GNI Board, GNI Committees and

international participant organizations and individuals.

Responsibilities:

• Formulating and articulating GNI’s policy positions in collaboration with the

Executive Director and Board Committees;

• Working with the GNI Executive Director to implement, shape, review and

update GNI’s annual policy goals, strategy and execution;

• Conducting research and policy analysis on issues relating to freedom of

expression and privacy online, and drafting policy papers, briefings and other

documents;

• Facilitating the work of the GNI Policy Committee to develop policy initiatives,

directing internal and external consultations, and drafting recommendations aimed

at international, regional and domestic institutions;

• Engaging with policy makers and other key stakeholders around the world,

including working with GNI staff on participation in conferences, meetings and

other global policy events; and

• Conducting other tasks as appropriate to support GNI's mission.

Qualifications: This position is applicable for people with at least 5 years of relevant

experience. An ideal candidate would demonstrate the following:

• Graduate degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field and a demonstrated

interest and experience in public policy, related to one or more of these fields:

international human rights law or policy, corporate social responsibility,

technology policy.

Deputy Chief - Peace and Security Section, UN Women, New York, New York

Position Description:

Under the supervision of the Section Chief, the Deputy Chief leads and coordinates

support to country and regional offices, serves as head of the Secretariat for the informal

Experts Group on Women, Peace and Security of the Security Council and is responsible

for Security Council engagement, strategic planning, global and sectoral research and

programming, and the development and implementation of the Peace and Security

Flagship Programme. The position will also oversee any additional areas of work

assigned by the Section Chief, as agreed.

Responsibilities:

• Liaise closely with Peace and Security Regional Policy Advisors to further

technical and programing support to the regions and country offices, ensure

consistency and the sharing of knowledge lessons learned on peace and security,

in coordination with Regional Directors and colleagues in the Peace and Security

section;

• Ensure that all positions for regional policy advisers on peace and security are

staffed and regularly convene and coordinate the advisers with the team to create

an informal community of practice;

• Provide technical inputs to reports, publications, programme development and

other initiatives related to Peace and Security at the country and regional level;

Position Description:

The Development and Outreach Department of Human Rights Watch (“HRW”) is

seeking highly-qualified candidates for the position of Associate in the New York office

to provide administrative assistance to the New York Committee Team. The New York

Committee Team serves as an important base for HRW’s development, fundraising, and

outreach activities in the tri-state area. This position is part-time at 24 hours per week

(60% schedule) and requires availability to work occasional night events. The Associate

is based in New York and reports to the New York Committee Associate Director.

Responsibilities:

• Provide administrative support including scheduling, preparing for and taking

minutes at meetings, responding to inquiries, recording and processing divisional

finances, and making travel arrangements;

• Assist in the follow-up of major organizational fundraising, cultivation, and

outreach events, including, but not limited to, the New York Annual Dinner and

New York Film Festival;

• Organize logistical aspects of events by maintaining key spreadsheets,

documenting gifts received, preparing solicitation and acknowledgement

materials, organizing and shipping event materials, collating follow-up

fundraising reports, etc.;

• Maintain the Raiser’s Edge database by updating donor and financial information

and overseeing data entry for special events and cultivation initiatives;

TNTD/ATU also assists participating States with implementing their relevant

commitments in this area, as defined by relevant decisions, and acts on requests from

participating States to assist in enhancing their capacities to respond to current and

emerging terrorist threats. TNTD/ATU supports the work of relevant UN bodies and

Nurture Project International was first discussed during a conversation between public

health professionals, disaster relief experts, breastfeeding supporters, midwives, and

IBCLCs who were passionate about minority rights, disaster relief, safe infant feeding,

and international public health. As a response to a call for infant feeding specialists in

Europe the organization has rapidly grown and our first large project in Greece was

developed.

After an analysis of the current refugee crisis it was quickly concluded that there was a

great need for creating an informed group to mobilize qualified and trained volunteers

who would deploy to emergency situations and support mother as they fed their babies.

In addition, it was concluded that education, training, and information was needed not

only amongst other NGOs, health professionals, and volunteers to ensure best infant

feeding practices but also for refugee mothers so that they can create and maintain peer to

peer infant feeding support projects within the refugee community.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary focal point for safety and security for all projects globally;

• Provide technical support to the field in the following areas:

o security/risk assessments;

o scenario planning, security plan development;

o crisis/contingency planning; and

o other security-related functions.

Research Internship: U.S.-Russia Relations (Summer 2017) The Center for the National Interest is seeking energetic undergraduate and graduate

to be Research Interns. Interns will assist U.S.-Russia Relations Program Director and

Center Executive Director Paul Saunders on a series of projects related to American

policy toward Moscow and the U.S.-Russian dialogue. The program is built around a

regular series of seminars on key issues in the bilateral relationship, including non-

proliferation, the war on terror, energy, and Russia’s domestic evolution as it relates to

democracy, the media, and corruption. It has recently focused on U.S. and Russian

interests and interaction in the former Soviet territory.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct research to support the activities of the U.S.-Russia Relations program,

including op-eds, reports, and briefings;

• Aid in the organization of program meetings, events, and seminars;

• Author summaries of program activities for internal and external audiences; and
