Position Description:

Women Enabled International (WEI) is now accepting applications for a Director of

Development. The position is part-time (15-20 hours per week), and is available starting

April/May 2017. The Director of Development will support Women Enabled

International’s President and Board of Directors in a variety of fundraising projects. We

seek an experienced, proactive, and entrepreneurial development leader to direct efforts to

cultivate and expand our donor universe. This is an opportunity to assist an expanding

international nonprofit realize its fundraising potential and increase its reach and influence.

The Director of Development will have assistance from WEI’s Program and Office

Coordinator and will partner with the President to craft and implement a fundraising

strategy to expand WEI’s sphere of donors. The organization’s budget has been growing

rapidly since our founding, with the majority of our support coming from major grants and

private foundations via project based and capacity building grants. WEI envisions

sustaining its mission on this basis and enhancing and expanding our individual giving

funding base and other funding sources.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and lead the drafting and implementation of WEI’s annual fundraising

plan and serve as a collaborative partner to the President.

• Work closely with the President on foundation fundraising, project based grant

opportunities and the expansion of WEI’s individual donor base, including prospect

identification and research, materials preparation, and strategy development.

• Engage with program staff to develop appropriate degree of knowledge about the

field of the rights of women with disabilities and women generally, especially in

the international arena, and familiarity with the organization's substantive work.

• Draft grant proposals, compile required materials and transmit applications.

• Oversee stewardship activities including gift acknowledgement and reporting.

• Ensure all fundraising materials are created to the highest standard.

• Stay abreast of trends, developments and opportunities in fundraising, especially in

the areas of women’s rights and disability rights internationally.

• Represent WEI in professional standards, ethics, and best practices related to

fundraising with current and potential donors.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years experience, including in senior fundraising positions or with

successive senior development client experience.

• A successful track record obtaining six-figure gifts and multi-year commitments.

• Experience with international, women’s rights and/or disability rights funders

strongly preferred.

• A demonstrable interest in human rights, women’s rights and disability rights, as

well as relevant work experience (e.g. fundraising for policy and advocacy work).

• Exceptional people skills: excellent interpersonal and team building skills; gifted at

relationship-building; ease relating to subject area specialists.

• Knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, including foundation grants, individual

gifts and other funding sources.

Nurture Project International was first discussed during a conversation between public

health professionals, disaster relief experts, breastfeeding supporters, midwives, and

IBCLCs who were passionate about minority rights, disaster relief, safe infant feeding, and

international public health. As a response to a call for infant feeding specialists in Europe

the organization has rapidly grown and our first large project in Greece was developed.

After an analysis of the current refugee crisis it was quickly concluded that there was a

great need for creating an informed group to mobilize qualified and trained volunteers who

would deploy to emergency situations and support mother as they fed their babies. In

addition, it was concluded that education, training, and information was needed not only

amongst other NGOs, health professionals, and volunteers to ensure best infant feeding

practices but also for refugee mothers so that they can create and maintain peer to peer

infant feeding support projects within the refugee community.

Program Description: AICGS has two primary objectives for the program: (1) to deepen public understanding of

Activities comprise a seminar and site visits in both cities over the course of 4-5 days.

• Sarajevo: Train with experts to gain a deep understanding of post-conflict

strategies, including security, justice, political, and social mechanisms. Learn

which approaches have been successful, which failed, and which are beyond the

reach of policy. In gaining a cross-sectoral perspective on post-conflict transitions,

you will be able to transform conflicts around the world over the course of your

career. You will receive a Post-Graduate Certificate in “Post-Conflict

Transitions” upon completion of the course. You may choose to undertake

additional rigorous assignments in order to earn a Post-Graduate Certificate in

“Post-Conflict Transitions with Distinction.” Transferable MA academic credit is

• Bologna: In cooperation with Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of

Advanced International Studies (SAIS), the 2017 Bologna Symposium will bring

together the globe’s brightest young minds from top graduate institutions,

international organizations, grassroots peace movements, and the armed services.

the field’s premier political leaders, academic experts, practitioners, and advocates

in the practical skills necessary to foster peace and security in your community and

Position Description: The 2017 Summer Program Intern for Monitoring, Research and Evaluation (MRE) will

assist the Global Programs Unit in their day-to-day work in collecting, analyzing and using

Conducting a review of survey questions in key outcome areas and updating the reference

• Consolidating and updating guides and resources on existing data, variables and

processes;

• Providing support on the design and planning of an online software tool to view

The Center for Global Policy Solutions (CGPS), a social change nonprofit dedicated to

driving society towards inclusion, located in Washington, DC, seeks an undergraduate or

graduate student fellow to assist with planning and implementation for a national health
