Assistance for exporters to Russia SGS Russian/CIS Certification has issued guidelines forfirms wishing to export into Russia.

For Russia, CE marking and most other European and international quality certifi cates or declara-tions are not recognised nor accepted in their own right. With 19 mandatory certifi cation systems currently regulated by laws of the Russian Federation it can seem a daunting process.

The types of certifi cation that pumps may attract are:

• GOST R, Sanitary Epidemiolog-ical Conclusion (SEC),

• GOST R Ex-proof

• Rostekhnadzor (RTN) permit.

The exact certification needed

depends upon the products area of use. Most pumps will need GOST R certification for customs clearance purposes and at point of use. If the pump is hazardous rated (ATEX), a GOST R Ex-proof certificate is required.

GOST certification is available for single shipments, suitable for bespoke equipment or if the manufacturer is just starting to export to Russia. A one-year or three-year Serial GOST certifica-tion is suitable for most products.

If the pump is in direct contact with food or beverages, a Sanitary Epidemiological Conclusion will be required before the GOST R certificate is issued. The Sanitary

Epidemiological Conclusion is valid for five years.

The RTN permit is not required for customs clearance, but is needed at point of use and before the equipment can be operated. The RTN permit can be valid for a single contract/shipment or for three years. It is important to note that an RTN permit is required for hazardous areas such as mining and oil & gas.

Documentation will be required; an audit by the Russian expert is associated with three-year certifi cation. The documentation submission needed for the RTN permit must include GOST R and GOST R Ex-proof certifi cation where applicable.
