I remember when I turned 20 my grandfather (who was a code-breaker in WWII you will recall) gave me a birthday card with some straight-forward advice: LABUB RAMDZ BIRG I've never been able to figure out what he was trying to say. #2 Solution - Jigsaw puzzle with Manarola on Cinque Terre trail where Jay and Cara hiked together in Italy. Words on puzzle identified the clue number with: “From North to South, I’m # ______” Clue given once he identified the town and that it was #2 of the "The Five Lands" in the rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera.

I've given your poem some thought and here's what I've come up with for my favorite adventures:

1. Tasmania 2005 - This was the first real, audacious trip that I organized and executed myself. I was living in Adelaide, AU at the time and had a week to fly out there and explore the overland track. A talked a friend from NY to join me and we loaded up backpacks and hiked half way in and half way out unfazed by possums and Tasmanian devils. It wasn't particularly crazy, but we didn't have all the right gear or the best plan. There was a lot of growing at this time in my life. 2. New Zealand 2010 - A seasoned traveler at this point, Nathan and I rented a car and bought dozens of 6 packs of beer as we explored the the South Island. For pure fun, this trip takes the cake. I'll attach the journal I put together after the trip.

3. SULI 2006 - I've never been so happy. I met the best friends... and they wanted to go do fun (mountainous) things! SOTD, Pirates of the Caribbean, dune trips, pool time, kendo sticks, $1 inflatable rafts, and Dro's ridiculous roar/soundtracks. No question that those 10 weeks in Boulder changed me. After that I would never live somewhere flat and I wanted to stay in the RE world. When I graduate GT, I had strict job search criteria: renewable energy job west of Denver.

Final Solution

On a hike on March 2010, after interviewing with Sandia, Mom and Dad joined Jay for a snowshoeing trip up on the crest in near whiteout conditions. Things were great, until we got a little lost.

We found a snowman and broccoli trees up by the Kiwanis Cabin.

And we argued about how to get home.

All the clues indicated when and where to meet the parents at the Kiwanis Cabin for my 30th birthday gift: a hang gliding lesson!
