averages (GPA).▫ Division II requires a minimum SAT score of 820 or an ACT sum score

of 68.

• Test scores:▫ The SAT score used for NCAA purposes includes only the critical

reading and math sections.▫ The ACT score used for NCAA purposes is a sum of the following four

sections: English, mathematics, reading and science.

What is it?• How the NCAA holds member schools accountable for their

players academic progress• It accounts for the retention of students as well as their eligibility

each year• Uses a complex metric system to create a overall number, by

which the member institutions must remain above over a given time period

• There is a separate score for each sport

•2012-2013▫Min. 900 over last 4 year period▫Or a 930 average over last 2 years

•2014-2015▫Min. 930 over last 4 year period▫Or a 940 average over last 2 years

•2015-2016 and on▫Min. 930 over 4 year period

PENALTIES

3 levels of penalties ranging from reduced practice time (and additional academic time) to financial aid reductions (scholarships) and restricted membership status.
