Dice rolling sentence creation game. You will need: a die, paper and a pencil.

Roll the die three times to get three different random words. Write a sentence that uses all three words.

Last week in the supermarket I scooted quickly around on the back of trolley as I followed my mum.

This activity revisits your phonics from Year 2 but allows you to write more advanced words, too.

Use the sounds in the grid to make as many words as you can. Decide on a time (3 minutes?) to find and make as many as possible using only the sounds from the grid.

Extension: Write sentences using some of the words you have made.

1) What can you see? What do you think has happened/is happening/will happen? What do you wonder? 2) How do you think the house got here? (Which direction did it come from? How fast was it travelling?) Why is it surrounded by all of the bricks? What happened to the lampposts?

3) Who is the woman inside the house? Was she bothered by the ‘landing’? Give evidence to support your opinion.

4) Why is she looking out of the window? What might she be thinking?Do you think she’ll stay here for long? Why/why not?

5) Why do you think she came to this place? Where is this?

If your house could travel, where would you like to go?

Have a look at maps/travel brochures/best places to visit lists. Make a travel itinerary for you and your house. Are there any costs involved? How much spending money would you take? Which currencies would you need? Which languages would you need to be able to speak? What sights would you see?

Extension: Imagine that you have travelled in your house to a different place. Write a diary about the things you saw and did while you were there.
