    Puppy Class is designed to provide a positive environment or socializationo puppies to a wide variety o people as well as to each other. Earlysocialization has been shown to greatly reduce the incidence o bothhuman-directed aggression and dog-dog aggression, as well as anxietyand ear based behavior problems. Additional topics will be discussed

    such as addressing the common puppy issues o house training, mouthing,leadership and preventing behavior problems. Puppies will also learn sitand begin recall training (coming when called). This class is appropriateor puppies ages 24 months old. Dogs must have received at least tworounds o vaccinations prior to attending. I your dog has not yet receivedthe second round, please plan to attend class without your puppy untilthe second round o vaccination has been administered.

    Obedience 101teaches the basics o obedience: sit, down, stand, recall(coming when called), stay, and heeleverything your companion dog needsto know! Both verbal commands and hand signals will be used. Dogs o anyage may take this class. Positive reinorcement techniques will be used, soplease bring ood rewards or a small toy with you to class.

    Obedience 102 is ocused on honing the skills o Obedience 101.Additional levels o difculty and distractions will be added. Dogs o anyage may enroll provided they have a basic knowledge o basic obediencecommands: sit, down, recall (coming when called), stay, and heel.

    Creative Paws, Inc. was founded in 2001 by Ashlee Trotter, BSCPDT-KA, and provides group classes and private lessons for dogobedience training and behavior problems. Ashlee holds a Bachelorof Science degree in Zoology from Michigan State UniversityPrior to pursuing her dog training interests she honed her skills ofpositive reinforcement training while working with zoo animalsat facilities in the Midwest. She has been recognized for severayears as a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator by the AmericanKennel Club, as well as a Certied Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA

    by the Certication Council for Pet Dog Trainers, an afliateorganization of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and the rsorganization to offer a national standard for trainer certication

    Ashlees competition dog Spirit is the American Kennel Club(AKC) #1 ranked German Wirehaired Pointer in agility for 20082012. He is the 2nd of his breed to earn an AKC Master AgilityChampionship title, as well as the only German Wirehaired Pointerto reach the nals of an AKC National Agility event, a feat Ashleehas handled him to accomplish twice. Aside from agility he is titledin traditional obedience, rally obedience, tracking, hunting and dockdiving for a combined total of 26 titles and counting.

    Creek is Ashlees future competition dog. He is also a GermanWirehaired Pointer and is currently training for agility, traditionaobedience and rally obedience. He has lofty goals to live up to thachievements of his predecessor, Spirit.

    Creative Paws uses positive reinforcement training methods toimprove the relationship between dog and handler by providingan effective means of communication and understanding as thefoundation for learning. We believe that training your dog shouldbe enjoyable for both you and your dog!

    M e m b e r s h i p I n f o r m a t i o nEarly registration: Members are eligible to register or all classes one week

    prior to the start o seasonal registration. Early registration can be done

    via the web at winnetkacommunityhouse.org, ax or in person at Winnetka

    Community House. Please note: early registration does not guarantee a

    spot in a class.

    Who is eligible or benefts? All amily members in your household are

    eligible or membership benefts. When registering or membership, just list

    your amily members, and they will be included or the program registra-

    tion benefts automatically when registering or classes.

    Membership renewal: Members receive a notice about one month prior

    to the expiration, so the membership can be renewed or the next year.

    Reunds or memberships will not be available.

Participarents registering their child in recreation programs must recognize, however, that there is an inherent risk of injury when choosing to participate in recreation activities.
