*All food energy first starts with the SUN

• Plants use light energy from the sun to make food - PHOTOSYNTHESIS

HOW DOES ENERGY GET PASSED ON?

An animal will eat the plants and get the energy from it.

Then that animal gets eaten by another animal and gets its food energy

Animals need to eat food - HETEROTROPHS

HOW DO HUMANS GET THE ENERGY?

We eat the plants directly

or we eat an animal (chicken, pig, cow, fish, etc)

Only 10% each time it gets eaten!
