A SIZZLING SUMMER FOR SWEW!

The Diversity House initiative ‘Swale Women Empowering Women’ has been busy this Sum-

mer organising special interest events, workshops and regular sessions for members to attend.

Our successes this month include the Walking Club, which now holds twice a week. Our Work-

ing Club will hold its final session this week. Enrolment for the new sessions will open in Sep-

tember and is not to be missed! Our recent event, the Self-Improvement Conference was a

busy affair, attended by Helen Grant MP and nearly 80 delegates!

Our professional services are being developed, with consultancy and equality and inclusion

training being offered in the near future.

McDonald's Kickstart Grants - Community Football

McDonald's have created a grant scheme for everyone who’s involved in community football. With up to £75,000 available this year, we want to help you out by awarding cash grants to the

most deserving clubs throughout the UK.

You can apply for anything, which will help to support, grow or develop your players and the community. You can apply for one-off grants of between £500 to £2500 including VAT for a

single project.

Examples of things McDonald’s will support include, but are not limited to: - Club facilities, grounds-keeping tools, training courses, pitch hire, mini-vans and washing

machines; whatever your club and team could significantly benefit from.

You can apply for a grant on behalf of your club, as long as they are recognised by your national FA, and have at least one team at or below junior (U18) level.

You must be over 18 and involved with the club at some level, such as a coach, volunteer or

parent.

Only one application can be made per club per project application period.

If you or your club have previously applied for a grant but have been unsuccessful, you can reapply at any time in the remaining two project application periods.

At the request of McDonald’s, all applicants must be prepared to provide identification and

evidence of their eligibility to apply for a grant.

Swale Women Empowering Woman Project Project Worker – 20 hours per week

£8320 per annum

Swale Woman Empowering Woman is a Diversity House project that intends to bring together woman from different backgrounds to increase understanding and support that will create a

cycle of empowerment.

A Project Worker is required to support the manager in delivery and will work within the community to identify needs and work towards the removal of barriers that exist for

disadvantaged woman. This is both a field and office based position with the purpose of providing the necessary strategic community engagement, leadership and management

support to Swale Women Empowering Women Program (SWEW). This project is funded through Big Lottery Funding.

We are currently looking to recruit a Director to ensure the delivery of community projects and services, including core Volunteer Centre and CVS functions, which support,

promote and develop the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector, initially within the Canterbury and Thanet areas and ultimately in other parts of East Kent.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for the right individual to steer EKVAS through the next phase of our development, building on our existing range of services

and developing new projects, services and activities.
