VIMAL K. SHAH is an experienced trial and appellate litigator in employment lawmatters. He represents employers' interests in all areas of labor and employment lawincluding: employment discrimination claims involving disability, race, sex, religion, age,and sexual harassment; ERISA class action litigation; FLSA class action litigation; contractand discharge arbitrations; employment handbooks; workers' compensation discrimination;employment law torts; and individual and collective bargaining contracts. He is also anexperienced mediator in employment and commercial law matters.
Mr. Shah is admitted to the bars of the states of Illinois, New Jersey and New York, theUnited States Court of Appeals for the Third, Seventh and Ninth Circuits, and the UnitedStates District Courts for the District of New Jersey, the Southern and Eastern Districts ofNew York, and the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois.
Mr. Shah has served on numerous elected and appointed positions including: President ofthe Asian-Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey (2003 - 2005); Member ofthe New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Character (2003 - 2007); Member of the NewJersey Supreme Court Committee on Minority Concerns (2005 - 2007); Member of the NewJersey Supreme Court Civil Practice Rules Committee (1998 - 2004); Director of theAlternative Dispute Resolution Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association (1998 -2000); Vice Chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Essex County BarAssociation (1999 - 2001); and Member of the Advisory Board of the Asian PacificAmerican Lawyers Association (2005 – present).
In June 2003, Mr. Shah received DuPont Corporation's J. Michael Brown Award for hisefforts on diversity issues. He also received a Professional Lawyer of the Year Award fromthe New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in 2000. Mr. Shah has also been listed inSuper Lawyers®, (2005-2007,2011) a Thomson Reuters business, in the areas ofEmployment Litigation: Defense, Employment & Labor, and General Litigation.
