Vee Speers is an Australian photographer based in Paris. After studying at the Queensland College of Art, Speers worked as a stills photographer for the ABC television.

Since moving to France in the early 90’s, Speers has worked in fashion, photo journalism and is today an established fine-art photographer.

Her work has appeared in many publications, and has been exhibited in London, Paris, Japan, Italy, Tunisia and South America, as well as in her native country.

‘The birthday party’ is probably the most popular line of work that Vee Speers has created

She first came up with the concept of ‘ The birthday party’ series after watching her own children and their friends play during a fancy dress party.

In creating her own series, choosing the outfits and creating an eccentric/ concealed tone throughout, Speers evokes contemporary concerns, such as the suggestion of adulthood coming prematurely to children of the new generation.
