The collection includes works from well-known contemporary artists such as Sally Mann, Vee Speers, Pavel Baňka, and Anderson & Low; as well as regarded historic photographers like Bernice Abbott, Robert Doisneau, Weegee and Brassai. Mr. Maloney’s collection is eclectic, but has a number of recurring interests including Czech photography, constructed imagery, and modern masters. FotoFest Executive Director Steven Evans, who selected the exhibition works with Mr. Maloney says he was, “struck by the scope of the collection,” all of which is normally on display on the walls of the collector’s home. “Jim has a very interesting eye,” says Mr. Evans. “First and foremost, he buys what he likes and what he wants to look at. His collecting decisions are personal and emotional, as opposed to strategic or market driven. This has resulted in a collection of images that are often surprising and deeply resonant.” FOTOFEST INTERNATIONAL | www.fotofest.org For Information and Visuals: Vinod Hopson, FotoFest Press Coordinator, +1 713.223.5522 ext 26, [email protected] For Immediate Release: COLLECTORS EYE: THE MALONEY COLLECTION - 10/02/2014, PAGE 1 FOTOFEST October 23 - November 29, 2014 Jean Miele, Cosmological Argument, 2008.
