 The touch call/touch-tone pad is the numbered push-button pad you use to dial.•

With some calling services, you will be instructed to press either the star key• * or thepound key # . These keys are located to the let and right o the zero key 0 on yourtouch call/touch-tone pad.

When using a rotary phone, dial 1-1 instead o pressing• * and wait our seconds insteado pressing # . For example, i the instructions say “press 7   0   # ,” you should dial 7-0, andwait our seconds.

 The button that disconnects your call when you hang up the telephone is called the•

switchhook. When the instructions read “press and release the switchhook,” you are topress down the switchhook or only one second.

I your phone has a “FLASH” button, you can use it instead o the switchhook.•

I your telephone has a pulse/tone switch and you subscribe to touch call/touch-tone•

service, place the switch on tone. I you have rotary dial service, place the switch onpulse.

Some cordless phones and novelty phones are not compatible with calling services that•

require distinctive ringing.

Rates are subject to change without notice.•

Forwarded calls are subject to local and/or toll charges. I your line is toll restricted, you•

cannot orward calls to a toll number.

*69Do you want to get inormation about and/or automatically return the last call youreceived? Use *69. It’s a ast and convenient way to get inormation about the last call youreceived — even i you didn’t answer it.

You can use *69 whether you are a subscriber or not. *69 is available or a monthlysubscription ee or a per-activation charge in specially-equipped areas.

 To get inormation about your last call:Lit your phone’s receiver and listen or the dial tone..1.

Follow the voice prompts through the remaining steps o *69 use.3.

In CA, only call return is allowed when available, so the service will attempt to return4.the call automatically upon dialing *69.

I the call is returned and the number is busy, hang up and *69 will redial the busy numberor up to 30 minutes. You will hear a distinctive ringing pattern when the number isavailable. To cancel the call when the line is busy:

*69 cannot announce a telephone number or all incoming calls. For example, *691.cannot announce a number or calls marked private by the calling party or when thenumber is not available rom the network.

*69 cannot return all calls automatically. For example, calls placed rom cellular2.phones or lines equipped with ISDN or PBX service cannot be returned. In some cases,however, you can return the call manually using the announced number.

When a number is announced, it does not always identiy the party who placed the3.call and cannot always be used to return the call automatically or manually.

Depending on the state and the type o oce equipment involved, you will receive an4.announcement inorming you that a call was marked private by the calling party, butwill not be able to automatically return the call.

In CA, only call return is allowed when available. Announcement5.o a telephone number is not permitted.

ChaggI you are using *69 on a per activation basis, you will be charged upon announcement1.o the telephone number or inormation associated with the last incoming call.

 The charge applies regardless o whether you attempt to return the call by dialing “1”2.or whether the announced number identies the calling party or can be used to returnthe call.

For incoming calls marked private, in some states you will be charged or the3.inormation that the call was marked private.

AddiTionAL LinesAdditional lines can be used or axing, surng the Internet or as anadditional way to stay in touch. To install an additional line, please call your local VerizonBusiness Oce.

AnonYmoUs CALL rejeCTionI you have Caller ID, Anonymous Call Rejection (ACR), also called Anonymous Call Block,allows you to reject calls rom people who have blocked the display o their telephone

numbers and caller inormation. When an anonymous caller tries to reach you, they’ll heara message that instructs them to hang up, remove their block and call again.

When you use Busy Redial you can still make other calls. When your line and the one you•

are trying to reach are both ree, your phone will alert you with a special ring.

Busy Redial is automatically cancelled ater 30 minutes, even i the call has not been•

completed.

You can use Busy Redial to call back more than one number at a time. Canceling it will•

cancel all the numbers you’re trying to reach.

Busy Redial is oered in some areas on a “pay-per-use” basis. Rates vary by state.•

CALL BLoCk

Note: These instructions only apply to customers in DC, DE, MD, NJ, PA, VA, and WV.

Call Block allows you to block calls rom specic phone numbers.A blocked caller will hear a voice recording that says you are not presently accepting calls.

Call Block is limited to either 6 or 12 numbers, depending on your region.•

 This service cannot block cell phone numbers, some business numbers or calls•

rom pay phones.

Any calls made to you rom outside your dened calling area OR through the•

operator may not be blocked. This is or your protection in case o an emergency.

CALL orwArdinGCall Forwarding allows you to transer all o your calls to any local or long distancetelephone number. It must be activated rom your home phone.

A short reminder ring tone will sound on your home phone when a call is being•

CALL GATeNote: This eature is available in DC, DE, MD, NJ, PA, VA and WV.

You now have greater control over the outgoing calls dialed rom your home phone. CallGate oers a range o options. Decide how it can work best or you, and then program yourphone. Anytime you want to change your Call Gate eatures, you may access the servicerom any touch-tone phone.

From your phone with has Call Gate service, dial1. 18005277070 , Verizon’s AdvancedServices.

Select “Call Gate Service”. You will reach a special set-up message designed or new Call2.Gate customers. This message will guide you through the initial set-up o your service.

Enter your temporary PIN, which is the last our digits o your phone number. The3.system will automatically ask you to change your temporary PIN to a new, permanentour-digit PIN.

Use the Call Gate Menu to create your list o allowed and/or blocked numbers and4.customize the service to include the options you select.

Press5. 0 when nished, or simply hang up your phone.

Wait 10 minutes and test your service.6.

CALL inTerCePT*Call Intercept allows you to manage your calls by screening unidentied incoming calls.Call Intercept answers virtually all calls that do not provide a valid telephone number(numbers that typically appear as “anonymous,” “private,” “out o area” or “unavailable” on

your Caller ID screen) beore your phone rings. Callers will be told that you do not acceptunidentied calls and will be asked to record their name. I unidentied callers do notrecord their name – or enter your override code – your phone will not ring. This eliminatesinterruptions rom unidentied callers. Recorded names allow you to hear who is calling.You then have several call-handing options.

*Must have Caller ID service. Not available or business or rotary dial service.

Unidentied callers will hear the ollowing announcement:

“The number you are calling has Call Intercept, a service that requires callers whose telephonenumber does not appear on their Caller ID display to identiy themselves beore the call cancontinue. At the tone, please record your name or the company you represent and then pressthe pound key or simply stay on the line” 

I callers have your override code, also reerred to as your PIN (see Override/PIN Code•

section), they must enter it during the announcement to be connected.

I callers record their name, the call is connected. You’ll hear ringing and callers hear:•

“Thank you. Please hold.” They will then hear music until you choose how to handle thecall.

 The ringing pattern you hear will be dierent rom your existing ringing pattern and the•

words, “Call itcpt” along with the service number “18005277070” wil l appear onyour Caller ID screen.

When you answer, you’ll hear the recorded name and be given the ollowing options:•

1 Accept call “Thank you. Please hold.” Music, untilyou answer the phone.

2 Decline the call “The person you are calling is notavailable. Thank you. Good-bye.”

3 Reuse a sales call “The person you are calling doesnot accept phone solicitations.Please add the name to yourDo Not Call list.  Thank you. Good-bye.”

4 Send to Verizon Home Voice Mail* “Connecting to an answering system.”

5 Hear who is calling again Music, until you answer ormake a choice.

*You must subscribe to Verizon Home Voice Mail service to h ear option 4  . I no one answers the phone, the

caller is connected to your Verizon Home Voice Mail (HVM) service or your answering machine. I you do not 

have either HVM or an answering machine, callers will hear: “The person you are calling is not available at 

this time. Thank you. Good-bye.” 

Unidentied long distance callers reaching Call Intercept will pay their normal rates or acompleted call.

You have the ability to turn Call Intercept on and o as necessary by calling VerizonAdvanced Services at 18005277070 and ollowing the voice prompts.

ov C/PinFamily members and riends can bypass Call Intercept by entering your our-digit CallIntercept override code. Your code is automatically set to the last our digits o your hometelephone number. When your override code has been entered, your phone will alert youwith a unique ringing pattern (short-short-long ring) and the words “Priority Caller” willappear on your Caller ID screen.

 To change the override code, call toll-ree 18005277070 rom the phone line with CallIntercept and ollow the voice prompts.

You are able to select up to 25 telephone numbers that will always be intercepted by Call•

Intercept. These numbers can be added to or deleted rom the list as necessary. You caneven add telemarketers’ telephone numbers to your own Call Block list.

Callers whose numbers are on the Call Block list will hear the ollowing announcement:•

“We are sorry, the person you are calling is not accepting calls rom this number. Thank you.Good-bye.”

 To activate or make changes to the Call Block list, call toll-ree• 18005277070 rom yourphone line with Call I ntercept. From the Main Menu, press 1   4 or the Call I nterceptmenu and press 9 or More Options, then select 4 and ollow the voice prompts. Press0 or an explanation o the eature.

You are able to add up to 15 telephone numbers, which will ring through as Priority•

Caller, even i the telephone number is marked either private or anonymous.

 This is great or those amily members or riends whose telephone numbers are private,•

but cannot remember the our-digit bypass PIN.

 To activate or make changes to the Priority Caller list, call toll-ree• 18005277070  rom your phone line with Call Intercept. From the Main Menu, press 1   4 14 or theCall Intercept menu and press 9 or More Options, then select 5 and ollow the voiceprompts. Press 0 or an explanation o the eature.

Ayu Call rct (ACr), Ayu Call Blc:• You cannot use ACR and CallIntercept at the same time. Deactivate ACR rst by pressing *   8   7 .

Call watg:• Call Waiting calls that are also Call Intercept calls will have the short-short-long ring pattern.

Call watg id:• “Call Intercept” will appear on your display unit. Briefy press theswitchhook to answer Call Intercept.

Talg Call watg:• When a Call Waiting call comes rom a blocked or unavailablenumber, Call Intercept takes over. You will never hear a Talking Call Waitingannouncement or “Private Caller” or “Unknown Caller.” (Not available in all areas or orbusiness service.)

Call watg id dlu:• When you have Call Waiting ID Deluxe and Call Intercept, thecaller will not hear the Take Message or Busy/Hold Announcements.

*69:• I you receive a Call Intercept call, you cannot use *69 to get the name and number.

H Vc mal:• Set the ring cycle (the number o rings heard beore Home VoiceMail answers your calls) to our rings or less than 42 seconds. In addition, be sureyour greeting is 20 seconds or longer to ensure the caller understands when to beginrecording their message. Please note: you should not use the automated greetingoptions because it does not last 20 seconds or longer.

Call Tac:• Customer-originated Call Trace cannot be used on Call Intercept calls.

Cllct Call:• Calls rom prison inmates who use automated collect calling systems(where they do not speak to a live operator) cannot be completed i you have CallIntercept.

itatal Cllula Call:• International calls placed rom a cellular telephone mayhave trouble getting through i you have Call Intercept. I you receive a lot o these callsyou may want to reconsider your subscription.

Tll rtct:• You must have the Toll Restriction/Denial removed rom your accountor Call Intercept to work.

Bulg ety syt:• I you live in a building that uses your telephone line to “buzzup” or allow entry into the building, you should not subscribe to Call Intercept.

CALL TrACeCall Trace allows you to automatically trace unlawul, threatening or harassing phone calls

and is available in most areas. Call Trace can record most calls rom outside the region aslong as you do not receive another call in the interim. Traced calls cannot be blocked. Arecord o the traced call will be stored at the Verizon Unlawul Call Center.

Note: I you are ever threatened with bodily harm or you receive a bomb threat, use Call Traceand contact your local law enorcement agency.

Once you have successully traced the required number o calls (diers by area),5.contact your local law enorcement agency and obtain a complaint number.

wArninG: I a Call Waiting call comes through beore you activate Call Trace, the systemwill trace the last call received.

Call the Verizon Unlawul Call Center at• 18005185507 (TTY: 18002545959 ) Monday- Friday 8:30am -5pm (Eastern time zone) with your complaint number to open a case

You may also call our Call Trace inormation line at• 1877TrACe4U (18778722348 )or prerecorded inormation about how to use Call Trace.

Verizon will open a case or a maximum o thirty days. At the end o thirty days, you will•

be notied by mail with the results o the case. I the case is successul, the Call Traceinormation will be sent directly to the law enorcement agency. The action taken by lawenorcement may vary by areas.

 The records o all traced calls will be released only to a law enorcement agency.•

In some states, Call Trace is a “pay-per-use” service or each successul activation and•

charges will appear on you monthly phone bill.

In other states, you can subscribe to Call Trace or a monthly ee.•

Do not use Call Trace or unlawul calls including calls rom ax machines, computers and•

telephone marketing companies.

I you receive a lot o misdirected ax/computer calls, the Unlawul Call Center (UCC) may•

have you trace one call and attempt to contact the business that is bothering you. I thecall originates rom a residential line, you’ll be instructed to trace the required amount o calls and contact your local police

CALL wAiTinG, CAnCeL CALL wAiTinG And TALkinG CALL

wAiTinGWith Call Waiting, a special tone lets you know when another caller is trying to reach you.You can either answer the new call, or continue talking. With Cancel Call Waiting, you cantemporarily deactivate Call Waiting.

You will hear a Call Waiting tone during a call. The person calling you will hear a normal•

ring until you answer.

Inorm your rst caller that you have another call.•

 To put the rst caller on hold and answer the second call, press and release the•

switchhook, fash button or recall button – whichever your phone has.

 To return to the rst call and put the second call on hold, press•

and release the recall button again. You can alternate between calls as oten as desired.

I you hang up when you hear the Call Waiting tone, your phone will ring.•

I the rst person hangs up, you will automatically be connected to the second person•

within two seconds.

Listen or three short tones ollowed by a dial tone, then dial the number you want to3.call.

Talg Call watg

 Talking Call Waiting is a Call Waiting enhancement that announces the second caller’s nameright ater the Call Waiting tone. That way you can decide whether you want to click over tothe second caller or simply call him/her back later. I you do not switch to the second callerater the rst tone and name announcement, you will hear a “reminder” tone, but the namewill not be announced again. (Not available or business service.)

Call Waiting can only be canceled or one call. When you hang up, it is automatically•

reactivated.

In some areas, you can only use Cancel Call Waiting beore placing a call. In other areas,•

i you also subscribe to Three-Way Calling, you can use Cancel Call Waiting during themiddle o a call.

You must have Call Waiting to use Talking Call Waiting.•

 Talking Call Waiting doesn’t require special equipment.•

When you hear the caller ’s name announced with Talking Call Waiting, your rst caller will•

hear a brie interruption in the conversation.

 Talking Call Waiting announces the name associated with the Call Waiting party’s•

number. When a name and/or number is not available, the announcement will say“Unavailable Caller.”

I the person calling you has blocked his/her name and telephone number, Talking Call•

Waiting will say “Private Caller.”

I you subscribe to Call Waiting ID, you will see the second caller’s name and number on•

your display instead o hearing their name announced.

I you subscribe to Call Waiting ID and some extensions in your house do not have Call•

Waiting ID-capable phone equipment, you can use Talking Call Waiting instead.

CALLer idCaller ID lets you see the name and number o the person calling. The inormation willappear between the rst and second rings on a display device. Devices vary in design,available eatures, and the amount o names/numbers that can be stored.

Caller ID will display numbers or names and numbers o most calls, including long distance.Some calls may appear as “Out-o-Area” or “Unavailable.”

When the person calling you blocks the display o his/her name and number, the letter“P” or the word “Private” or “Anonymous” will appear. You can block these calls withAnonymous Call Rejection.

 The caller’s name and number will not be displayed in cer tain situations, including whenthe caller is in an area not equipped to pass numbers, the caller uses Caller ID blocking, oror certain numbers or which Verizon does not purchase Caller ID inormation.

Some names and numbers cannot be called back, either because they do not accept•

incoming calls or they are the main number o a business.

Caller ID devices can be used with most answering machines i the machine is set to pick •

up calls ater the second ring.

A special Caller ID display device must be purchased separately.•

Caller ID - Number Only displays only the caller ’s number.•
