2012The information sessions are designed to help you settle into your new life in Newcastle as quickly as possible, and cover many of the practical issues you will face during
your first few weeks at Newcastle University.
Please note that you must attend a Welcome! Session in order to find out how to complete the registration process at the University and
receive your Welcome! ticket to book any of the social activities.
Without the Welcome! ticket you will not be allowed to book any tours or trips.
You are advised to attend as many of the other available sessions as you can.

Social Activities Meet n Mingle - soft drinks and light refreshments – a chance to meet university staff and other new students
Newcastle United Football Club Tour - includes a walk on the pitchside, the executive box, the changing rooms and more!
Essentials Walking Tour - this is a tour to show you all the practical places you need to know – shops, doctors, police station, hospital, market and more!
Tour of the city by open top bus - sightseeing of all the major parts of the city, all from the comfort of an open top bus – bring your camera!
Ceilidh - an evening of Scottish and Irish music and dancing – come along prepared to join in and learn some basic dances – fun for all guaranteed!
Quiz Night - get into teams and answer questions on a variety of topics – geography, music, sport, famous people and more. Fantastic prizes for the winning team!
Vice Chancellors Welcome Reception - your official welcome to Newcastle University and the city, including light refreshments, soft drinks and music
Tour of the Northumberland Coast - visit Holy Island, Bamburgh and Seahouses – an all day excursion 10 am til 6 pm and a must for nature lovers!

The University English Language Assessment (UELA) is for all new students at the University for whom English is not their first language. Assessment sessions will take place during International Welcome and are listed below. They will take place in the Herschel Building, Lecture Theatre 3:
