Principal’s Message:

A huge welcome back to everyone.

Welcome also to our new families. The Benjamin Family arrived late in Term 1 with Tristan in 5H. Today we welcome the Ruys and Bhatia Family’s, Natasha in 3R and Andy and Rajvir in K Yellow.

I trust the holidays were relaxing and a great time-out for everyone. We have certainly enjoyed some down time with the weather absolutely perfect over the two weeks.

We have a lot of work being completed over the coming weeks. The roofing in K-2 is almost complete and will commence in the 3-6 area tomorrow. This was to commence over the break but sadly was held up. Please be very mindful when entering the grounds and avoid any cordoned off areas. We will ensure the children are safe and will continue our programs in creative ways with some co- teaching which the children will enjoy. The children will be instructed on where to place bags over the time.

Works in 3-6 will commence tomorrow commencing with the OOSH block. Access to OOSH will be via the ramp and no parking in the school grounds will be permitted. In 3-6 the children will be able to continue in their classrooms and will have access points that will be set for them as the works progress. This is a little inconvenient but the final result will be worth it.

Our School leaders are attending the Ryde Leadership Camp today and tomorrow. Mrs James is with the group today and Mrs Gordon will attend tomorrow. The children will learn leadership skills and meet other school leaders over the 2 days.

The children will have Smart Start in Week 2 this is a financial Literacy Program and is presented free for all students in Years 1-6.

We are trialling an afternoon session of Code Camp this Term, please see the information and booking form later in the Newsletter.

Woolies “Earn and Learn” starts this week. There are boxes at both ends of the school to drop your completed sticker sheets in. We are also happy for you to drop off the stickers and we can add to sheets here.

The Canteen is blocked off by scaffolding this week while the roof is being completed. Lunch orders will still be available but over the counter items will not be possible. Please send all morning tea with your children this week. The roofing works will be completed in K-2 by Friday.

Our Cross Country will be held in the school grounds on Tuesday May 7th. All welcome.

School photos are coming soon - on May 14th, full Winter uniform for these please.

Walk Safely to School Day is on May 17th. This is a special day where the children are encouraged to walk to school if they live close enough to do so.

This Term we move to Winter uniform but bearing in mind we do have some warm days this week please be flexible and continue in Summer uniform if the days look to be warm.

Looking forward to another great Term at TPS

Have a great week,

Sport News

The School Cross Country is fast approaching! It will take place on school grounds next Tuesday from approximately 9.15am-11am. If you are free on Tuesday morning next week and would like to volunteer to assist, please email Mr de Jager [email protected]. The first 6 children in each race division will go through to Zone which will take place at Rofe Park on Monday 27th May.

Over the holidays, Lucy Middleton competed in a Water Polo competition in Canberra. Her team won the girls division, with a 10-3 win with Lucy scoring 3 of the goals. Congratulations to Lucy.

Friday PSSA moves to the afternoons this Term and next, we leave school at 12pm, with games starting about 12.45pm. AFL will always be at Foxglove and Soccer/Netball will vary. The draw has been released and is elsewhere in the Newsletter.

Scholastic Book Club

Welcome to Term 2 Scholastic Book Club. Catalogues will be sent home with your child this week and the closing date for orders is FRIDAY, 17th May. Don't forget that every book order placed, Scholastic gives back 20% of the order spend to TPS, enabling our children to benefit from valuable educational resources purchased for our classrooms.

Don't miss out on your FREEBIES with second and third orders!

Payment is by LOOP (Linked Online Ordering & Payment) platform for parents. This payment platform makes it so easy, there's no need to return paper order forms or payment receipt details to school. All orders are linked directly to school and books will still be delivered to your child's classroom. There's plenty of help on the site to get you ordering via LOOP. You are now able to tag items intended as gifts when ordering and we will let you know when your order is ready for pick-up. Please remember NO CASH can be accepted. Books should arrive within 2 weeks of the closing date. Happy Reading!

Band Uniforms

On May 26th we start our competitions for the year with Ryde East Music Festival, then June

16th for the Intermediate Band at Wahroonga Band Festival.

Please get your band uniform ready, as competitions for the year are coming up!

• Black pants – no dance pants and no ¾ pants

• Band shirt (available from the TPS uniform shop)

• Black shoes and black socks only

Hair should be neatly combed and, for the girls, tied back with hair elastics the same colour as

their hair. Gold ribbons for the girls will be handed out by the Band Managers, the ribbons will

be collected as soon as the performance is finished to ensure we have a full set for the next

performance. Each band has its own set of ribbons.

Important note: All band members should have a BLACK (or clear cover with TPS logo)

folder/display book in good condition for their music. This looks very professional when

performing, so it would be great if all students could please have one by their festival

performance.

If you have any questions or concerns please e-mail

Band Director, Mr Rowland at [email protected], or either of your Band Coordinators

Kerry Medd or Liz Maund-Arnott at [email protected]
