At Turramurra North Public School we provide innovative,creative and flexible curriculum that is future focused andsupported by relevent technology. Our students takeresponsibility for their learning, incorporating a positivemindset whilst embracing diversity and connecting withinand beyond the community to make learning authentic.

Turramurra North Public School (enrol. 290) is a welcomingcommunity school set in spacious, well maintained groundsin the village of North Turramurra. The school celebrated itsCentenary in 2014 and continues to evolve as we look to2020 and beyond.

We pride ourselves in the delivery of 21st centuryeducation fostering critical thinking, collaborative,communicative and creative young people who areequipped to face the challenges of tomorrow through therich experiences of today.

Teachers at our school understand that the learningpathway for each child is unique and is connected to therelationship with the home. Our staff take care to informand engage parents and carers in the life of the school andthe challenges and achievements of all our students.

We have a long standing tradition of academic excellencebalanced with a quality and diverse creative arts program.Our teachers are trained in known best practice andregularly update their skills and understanding through anexpansive professional learning program.

Turramurra North Public School is a ‘YouCan Do It!’ schoolwhere we equip all students with a positive andindependent mindset based on the five keys to success.

Through ‘You Can Do It!’, students at Turramurra NorthPublic School learn to remain calm and work things out andthis is reflected in the climate of the school.

A range of opportunities and programs are available to allstudents as they grow and develop their own interests andtalents. Students are provided with opportunities to developtheir creative and artistic abilities through unique visualarts, public speaking and music programs and their skillsand sportsmanship in all manner of sports.

Our school is always interested in improving the way wecater for our students’ education. As part of ourcommitment to this process, in Term 4 2017 we embarkedon another 3 year planning process.

An extensive consultation program with staff, students andparents was undertaken to understand where TurramurraNorth Public School is strategically placed, now and for thefuture. The strategic planning process commenced with anexecutive planning day and a workshop with participationfrom all staff. The workshop explored a range of futuretrends likely to impact our school over the next three years.

We  employed a Director & Master Trainer from 4MATSystem Australia to support the development of the2018–20 school strategic plans by:

* working with the school leadership team to participate instrategic planning as part of the school’s improvementcycle.

* Co–ordinating the school visioning process.

* using data to identify what the school is doing well andwhat needs to be done to further improve studentoutcomes

* fulfilling their governance role by ensuring that theschool’s planning and practices reflect departmentalguidelines and community expectations

We acknowledged that change will continue, presenting ourschool with opportunities and sometimes challenges, testus on many fronts. Our strategic plan ensures we areequipped to respond to any change. A common featurethroughout these discussions was the expression ofrespect for the Turramurra North community and a greatdepth of understanding and appreciation for the school’svalues and vision.

We valued our community’s opinion so in preparation forsetting our vision goals, we asked stakeholders – parentsand students – to take a brief survey. (Student surveys for

technology as an enabler of learning. We are passionateabout engaging learners as they grow their own interests,knowledge and understanding through rich tasks linked tothe real world. Every student in Years 3–6 uses their ownschool iPad on a daily basis and all classes K–2 enjoy anipad, student ratio 1:2. All iPads are equipped with state ofthe art productivity apps and managed very carefully withinour secure Wi–Fi network which spans flexible andcomfortable learning areas both within and outside theclassroom.

Our aim is to guide our students to be creative andcollaborative learners who can effectively communicateand think critically as they respond to the world aroundthem.

Results were collated reflecting the community views andthis along with staff feedback guided the strategic planningprocess by focusing on issues that are of greatest concernto the families and community of Turramurra North.
