METHODOLOGY4

Anybody who wish to become Storage Tank Inspector

• Tank inspection engineers and managers,

• Inspection personnel,

• operating engineers and managers,

• Maintenance engineers and technicians and

• people involved in trouble shooting of inspection activities.

PRE-COURSE REQUIREMENTS5

• Theory and practical will taught by qualified trainer• This course consists of modules that include both classroom lectures and handout training.• Course materials include visual aids and student handouts.• A certificate will be issued upon successful performance of the examination.

TRAINING PROGRAM FOR:API 653 Storage Tank Inspector

To take the API 653 examination, a candidate must meet at least one of the following criteria:

• BS or higher in Engineering with a minimum of 1-year experience in supervision or performance of inspection activities as described in API 653.

• 2-year degree or certificate in Engineering or Technology with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in design, construction, repair, operation, or inspection of pressure vessels, of which one year must be in super-vision performance of inspection activities.

• High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in design, construction, repair, operation, or inspection of pressure vessels, of which one year must be in supervision performance of inspection activities.

Have 5 or more years of experience in design, construction, repair, operation, or inspection of pressure vessels, of which one year must be in supervision performance of inspection activities.

Candidates are encouraged to bring an electronic calculator. Programmable calculators are permitted as long as it does not have an alphanumeric keyboard. No other books, paper, or charts will be allowed.

Candidates are permitted to use a translation dictionary. No electronic dictionaries will be allowed.
