1. First Go to Settings CPV Networks & Add CPV Network Source: Bing PPC (Enter a name for the PPC Source) SourceID: bng (Enter a sourceid, letters) Keyword Token: keyword Append Token: &keyword={keyword} Timezone: Choose the timezone for your traffic source

2. Editing the Append Token for PPC Sources… When you want to track PPC, this is the primary field to edit. Each source generally has their own token to use to pass the keywords. In this example Bing uses {keyword} , other Sources such as 7Search use ###KEYWORD### so you would set up the Append Token as…&keyword=###KEYWORD###

If you’re unsure of what token to use…look in your advertiser account. Most traffic sources post this information in their How to documentation, if not…just send them a quick email. Once you have the keyword pass through information for your traffic source, you can quickly add new sources to the list.

3. Next Up, Tracking Ads and Ad Groups As you know CPV Lab is designed around Cost Per View advertising, which doesn’t have any ads on the front end. No worries though, this is very easy to implement.

So in this example…let’s say you have 2 Ad Groups:

Ad Group #1: Blue Widgets Ad Group #2: Red Widgets

Each Ad Group has 2 Ad copies:

Ad Group #1: Blue Widgets Ad A Ad B Ad Group #2: Red Widgets Ad A Ad B

In this example, we’re going to add additional tokens to identify the 2 Ad Groups and also the individual Ad Copies in our Stats. If you only wish to track Ad Copies, then follow these same instructions but only create that 1 additional token. In the edit Campaign page for your campaign… Check Capture Extra Tokens and enter the following tokens for Ad Group & Ad Copy Then Save the Campaign

Extra Token 1… Name: Ad Copy URL Append: &adc=%AD% Parameter: adc Extra Token 2… Name: Ad Group URL Append: &adg=%ADGROUP% Parameter: adg

4. Create a Unique Campaign URL to use as the Destination URL for Each Ad So prior to the Campaign Tokens your Campaign URL looked like this:

http://YourDomain.com/base.php?c=92&key=68548ef47635251d3cc2a99c789da207&keyword={keyword}

After Entering the tokens above, your Campaign URL should look like this: http://YourDomain.com/base.php?c=92&key=68548ef47635251d3cc2a99c789da207&keyword={keyword}&adc=%AD%&adg=%ADGROUP%

Now in the example above…we have 2 Ad Groups each with 2 Ads, so for Total Ads.

When setting up your campaign at your traffic source, Bing in this example… You’ll simply edit your campaign url, when entering your destination url for each ad in the ad groups. NOTE: in this example we’re changing the token for Ad Group and Ad Copy for each Ad. Some PPC Sources support tokens so you can pass the Ad Group automatically.

For example: (prefilled tokens are in bold red) Ad Group #1: Blue Widgets with Ad A http://YourDomain.com/base.php?c=92&key=68548ef47635251d3cc2a99c789da207& keyword={keyword}&adc=A&adg=Blue_Widgets Ad Group #1: Blue Widgets with Ad B http://YourDomain.com/base.php?c=92&key=68548ef47635251d3cc2a99c789da207& keyword={keyword}&adc=B&adg=Blue_Widgets Ad Group #2: Red Widgets with Ad A http://YourDomain.com/base.php?c=92&key=68548ef47635251d3cc2a99c789da207& keyword={keyword}&adc=A&adg=Red_Widgets Ad Group #2: Red Widgets with Ad B http://YourDomain.com/base.php?c=92&key=68548ef47635251d3cc2a99c789da207& keyword={keyword}&adc=B&adg=Red_Widgets

If you just wanted to track the Keyword and Ad, you would set this up as… Ad Group #1: Blue Widgets with Ad A http://YourDomain.com/base.php?c=92&key=68548ef47635251d3cc2a99c789da207& keyword={keyword}&adc=A Ad Group #1: Blue Widgets with Ad B http://YourDomain.com/base.php?c=92&key=68548ef47635251d3cc2a99c789da207& keyword={keyword}&adc=B Ad Group #2: Red Widgets with Ad A http://YourDomain.com/base.php?c=92&key=68548ef47635251d3cc2a99c789da207& keyword={keyword}&adc=C Ad Group #2: Red Widgets with Ad B http://YourDomain.com/base.php?c=92&key=68548ef47635251d3cc2a99c789da207& keyword={keyword}&adc=D

Note on Pre-Filling Extra Tokens… You can prefill tokens to identify your ads in many different ways…it’s up to you. Such as by tone or type of headline… &adc=ad1_question &adc=ad2_news &adc=ad3_shock &adc=ad4_help Or by Gender for example… &adc=ad1_men &adc=ad2_men &adc=ad1_women &adc=ad2_women

IMPORTANT To make sure everything is passed as it should DO NOT add any spaces to the url, instead of using spaces, use characters for spacing such as dash “-“ or underscores “_” to avoid any potential url format problems. For example, from above… Good: &adg=Red_Widgets Uses underscore ( _ ) as separating character &adg=Red-Widgets Uses dash ( - ) as separating character Bad: &adg=Red Widgets NO GOOD, Uses a Space

“!” Cloaking is coming soon within the CPV Lab interface to completely hide these tokens as well. As of right now…the prefilled tokens are visible in your destination url. We’re also adding additional ways to sort and filter this data to give you more control and abilities to view the segmented data.

The Stats… Based on what you named your tokens and entered for your tokens you’ll see that data within your Stats for the Campaign for each Target / Keyword. Here we have tokens for Ad Copy and Ad Group.

Below we have tokens for Ad Copy and the tokens in the format of ad_1 , etc.

Below is the same as above with the tokens entered to describe the type of ad copy.

IMPORTANT When using CPV Lab for PPC, Social or Media Buys…the metrics slightly change, as now you have Ads on the frontend, where in CPV advertising you are popping your landing page or offer instead of using an ad. When viewing your Stats for any Campaigns with PPC, Social or Media Buys as the traffic source… Views = Clicks on Your Ads. Clicks = The number of clicks from your landing page. CTR = Shows the Click Through Rate of your Landing pages to Offer. CPC = The cost per click from your landing page
