    INTRODUCTIONThe artistic skating, his a form of extreme beauty, combining

    the technique of skating, with the body language and the Music,

    allows us to reach an almost perfect symbiosis.

    This mode was born in Portugal in the fifties (50s).

    In personal terms, this mode is much more than a sport, it's a

    passion. Therefore and because we know that one method is not

    widespread and that the scientific work done on it are scarce,

    we decided to chose this mode to work on and contribute for

    the development of this mode that we both appreciate.

    BRIEF HISTORYOF SKATING ARTISTIC

    The word PATIM derives from the Greek "PATEIN" which

    means to walk (Gomes 1998). According to the same author

    the history of Artistic Skating (AS) is closely linked with the

    history of ice skating.

    Skating began as a necessity, since the man needs to

    increase the speed of its natural propulsion.

    The hunters of (twenty thousand) 20,000 years ago to

    pursue there hunt use skates to move faster over the vast and

    icy plains. (Gomes, 1998).

    Later in 1760, the Belgian Joseph Merlin built the first roller

    skate. A very rudimentary skate that only allows the skater to

    slide forward and without any form of braking.

    However the Dutch decide to take the skates on wheels as

    a means of continuing to train during the summer.

    THE RULESTO DRESSIN SKATING SHOW

    The rules in skating show are the same as in skating

    precision:

    Both sexes may wear pants, but not ballet tights.

    The equipment of men should not be sleeveless or have

    cleavage over 8cm below the neckline.

    Ornamental objects if not recommended and

    inappropriate to the athlete movements during thecompetition or cause obstruction to other competitors of

    following team, are not allowed.

    Hand ornaments are also not allowed.

    THE RULESTO DRESSIN SKATING SHOW

    In all the skating events the equipment must conform to

    the music, but can not cause embarrassment to the skaters,

    judges and spectators.

    In skating show the ladies equipment should cover the

    hips, which means, cuts above the hips, are prohibited.
