Major landmark in Cairo, The Pyramids of Giza consists of three pyramids built for pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure. In these three the great pyramid of Khufu is the largest and awarded as one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The statue of great Sphinx can be seen in front of the pyramids standing as a guardian.

Situated at Tahrir square, The Egyptian Museum of Antiquities exhibits the artifacts, treasures and mummies of ancient Egypt rulers. There are several sections in the museum which houses pre-dynasty monuments, Tutankhamen's treasures and medieval Egyptians coins.

Bab Zuweila

Southern gate of Fatimid walled city, known as Bab Zuweila is one of the major landmarks in the city. The tall minarets gives a panoramic view of the city and it also houses a small museum.


Rhoda Island is situated at the south of Zamalek connected by a bridge to the mainland. An eccentric Manial Palace and peaceful streets can be seen on the Island.
