what you think it might be – that way you’ll
recruit what you need!

someone else involved – that way you are less
likely to just recruit someone you like (or is like

to do and work out a way to test it.
Always check references – verbally first if you
can and then in writing

Treat their arrival like a meeting with a new and
valued client and spend as much time as possible
with them.
Make them feel welcome and part of the team

Make sure you have something for them to do
which will make them feel like they are
contributing straight away (don’t overload them
though!)

Make sure you explain the company rules on such
things as:
*Work hours, breaks and timekeeping
*Use of the Internet etc.
*Sick absence and holidays

Contracts, Payroll etc. If you don’t know – ask
someone who does!

Explain how they can be achieved and offer any
