Sweeney Todd is a thrilling, theatrical treat by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler. An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to London, seeking vengeance against the judge who framed him, and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett’s luck shifts when Todd’s thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up! And the carnage has only just begun. With the most chilling music ever written for the stage, Sweeney Todd is a bloody good time! MATURE AUDIENCE RECOMMENDED. ADULT LANGUAGE AND SITUATIONS.
Hay Fever is one of Noel Coward’s most durable comedies that delights audiences with its astute observations on family relationships and rivalries. The action takes place in the Bliss family home, where each family member has privately invited a guest for the weekend, unbeknownst to anyone else. Over the top and theatrical in their actions, the Bliss family delight in winding each other up! Hay Fever provides a shrewd, farcical look at a dysfunctional family oblivious to their ill-mannered behavior!
Circle Mirror Transformation takes place in a small town in Vermont, where five strangers gather in a dance studio to embark on a unique journey together in a creative drama class for adults. Taught by Marty, their free-spirited leader, the group -- Schultz, a recently divorced, emotionally vulnerable carpenter, Teresa, an earnest and vibrant former actress, James, Marty’s quiet and genial husband, and Lauren, a reserved and self-conscious high schooler -- move through a series of acting exercises, ranging from the heartbreaking to the ridiculous. In this one small room, through these few seemingly trivial games, quiet wars are waged, emotional wounds are nursed, and healing is finally, slowly, able to begin. In Annie Baker’s quiet masterpiece, Circle Mirror Transformation, the audience takes a transcendent journey through the mundane into the profound.
The Pajama Game was awarded a Tony for Best Musical in 1955, and again over a half a century later, for Best Musical Revival, proving the story is timeless. An energetic score by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross (Damn Yankees), will have your toe tapping to songs like “Steam Heat,”, “Hernando’s Hideaway”, and “Hey There”. When conditions at Sleep Tite Pajama Factory are anything but peaceful, sparks fly between new superintendent, Sid Sorokin, and Babe Williams, leader of the grievance committee. Workers strike for a 7 1/2 cent pay increase, setting off not only a conflict between management and labor, but a battle of the sexes as well. A classic musical comedy that’s fun for the whole family!
Stupid F@&#ing Bird is a very edgy, funny, and compassionate reboot of Anton Chekhov’s famous play “The Seagull”. Aaron Posner has created a strong, energetic ensemble piece that is a moving meditation on love, life, and art. Kind, hopeful Dev suffers from an unrequited love for Mash, but Mash is in love with Con, a passionate playwright in love with his childhood friend Nina. She seems to love him back until she becomes entranced by Trig, who is dating Con’s mother Emma. With a dead bird, a gunshot, and a little help from the audience, Con might be able to win Nina’s heart again! MATURE AUDIENCE RECOMMENDED. ADULT LANGUAGE AND SITUATIONS.
