From the Desk

of Our Pastor

In our bulletin today, on page 6, there is a informational

flyer and registration form for “Bridges Out of Poverty” a

workshop sponsored by the St. Vincent de Paul Society, right

here at St. Timothy’s. The workshop is in keeping with the

Society’s vision to end poverty through systematic change,

one person, one neighborhood, one community. Bridge’s participants will gain a deeper understanding of those in

poverty and will be more open to working with individuals

and families directly, as well as, finding ways to help them

break through the cycle of poverty. I believe that this will

be a good and convenient way to learn more about

and treating the problem of poverty. Fr.Dick

Sacrament of Confirmation

Attention Adults, that have never received the Sacrament of

Confirmation, If you would like to receive this Sacrament there will

be a series of learning sessions. To register please contact Jim Schrader

at: [email protected] or call the parish office at:

at 301-845-8043 ext. 100. Confirmation will be held on Sunday,

May 15 (Pentecost) at the Cathedral in Baltimore.

Foster Parents

Catholic Charities Family Services is reaching out to individuals and

families who would be interested in becoming foster parents. The

ultimate goal of the program is to provide children and adolescents

with a trained, caring and dedicated family to live with, while their

physical and psychological needs are met and a plan is made for their

future care. Children in the program have a variety of issues related to

physical and mental health. Many children are eventually reunited with

their birth family and some go on to be adopted. If you are interested

in opening the warm environment of your home, please contact:

Ms. Chantal Lake, LGSW, at 410-685-2363 ext. 117 or email

Our Military Corner

Ranger Rosary: For those in VA hospitals and nursing homes, the

road to recovery is steep, unpredictable and often with setbacks as

they struggle to regain what they have lost. They need to know they

have our prayers for their fullest possible recovery and that we

appreciate their sacrifice. Each week the entire Ranger Rosary

Ministry sends 600 rosaries and prayer cards to some of the 180 VA

hospitals and nursing homes. There is a great comfort and hope in

the prayers of the rosary. All will feel Mary's powerful intercession as

she brings their needs to her Son Jesus. Come to the Rosary Ministry

on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month at either 10 AM or 7 PM.

For more information about the Ministry or about sending a rosary to

an active member of the military, please contact Claudette Lucas @

couples will recognize why their marriage is so valuable, understand

the importance of honoring God with their relationships, and how to

regularly invest in their marriage. For more information, please

contact Deacon Rob ([email protected]).

Let marriage be held in honor among all. [Hebrews 13:4]

Sunday, April 10, 2016 Third Sunday of Easter Questions for Reflection or Discussion on this Sunday’s Readings

1. In the first reading, after the high priest warns the apostles to stop teaching in Jesus’ name, Peter begins his response with these words: “We must obey God rather than men.” What do you think Peter meant by these words? How do these words apply to your life?

2. The first reading ends with these words: “So they left the presence of the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that they had been found worthy to suffer dishonor for the sake of the name” (Acts (5:41). Why do you think the apostles were “rejoicing that they had been found worthy to suffer dishonor for the sake of the name”? Would you be willing to suffer dishonor for Jesus, because you are a Catholic Christian? Why or why not?

3. In the responsorial psalm the psalmist, like Peter and the apostles in the first reading, expresses

his total confidence and faith that no matter what happens to him, the Lord will be with him and rescue him. His response to this is rejoicing, praise, and thanksgiving? How does your confidence in the Lord’s protection over your life (and your family) compare to the psalmist? Was there ever a time when the Lord rescued you from a difficult situation? What was your response?

4. The second reading gives us a glimpse of the celebration of praise and worship that goes on in

Heaven. The angels and saints cry out to the Lord with these words: “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches, wisdom and strength, honor and glory and blessing” and “To the one who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor, glory and might, forever and ever.” What is your reaction to this scene in Heaven? What do you think is the basis for this celebration? In what ways can we share in this heavenly celebration?

5. In the Gospel reading, what do you think were Jesus’ reasons for his question to Peter: “Do you

love me?” Why the same question three times? Why do you think Peter seemed to be so uncomfortable with Jesus’ questions? What would be your answer if Jesus were to ask you the same question he asked Peter, “Do you love me?”

6. In the meditation, we are reminded that every time we celebrate Mass, “We are celebrating who

Jesus is and what he has done for us by dying and rising. We are telling him, ‘Jesus, we ascribe to you all power, riches, wisdom, and strength. We proclaim that you are worthy to receive all of our glory, honor, and praise.’” What does it mean to ascribe to Jesus all power, riches, wisdom, strength, glory, honor, and praise? How can you apply these words in a greater way to how you worship the Lord at Mass?

7. Take some time now to pray, and thank and praise the Lord for what he did for you through his

cross and resurrection. Take some time also to surrender even more of your life to him. Use this prayer at the end of the meditation as a starting point. “Jesus, you are the perfect image of the Father’s love. I praise you with my whole heart, and I surrender my life to you.”

(Many thanks to The Word Among Us (www.wau.org) for allowing us to use meditations from their monthly devotional magazine. Used with permission.)
