PUT THE BRAKES ON CANCER
Who would have thought that drinking wine in moderation may reduce your chances of getting cancer? Yes, you heard it right. Findings from a study published in Journal of Cellular Biochemistry implied that breast cancer cells can be slowed down by the compound phenol found in wine. Resveratrol, an antioxidant in wine, is also believed to impede the growth of liver cancer cells. It's good to know that a slew of antioxidants in wine seems to put the brakes on the growth of different kinds of cancer cells.
SHARPEN YOUR WITS
Turn up those little grey cells of yours. A glass of wine each day may actually boost those quick wits and sharp minds. A study in Columbia University supported that moderate wine drinkers showed a decline of brain function at a slower rate.

A flurry of reports also suggested that wine, when consumed in moderation, may improve bone mineral density for both men and women. Higher mineral density consequently points to stronger, more resilient bones.
HEALTHY HEART
Karolinska Institute’s studies found that wine drinkers may cut their risk of dying due to heart disease. It has been shown that wine appears to dilate arteries and improve blood circulation. A glass or two of wine every day may reduce one’s risk of developing clots which might hamper blood supply to the heart. The substance phenol which is found in wine is also believed to reduce the risk of artery damage brought about by the “bad” cholesterol.
All these impressive claims might propel you to drink down a bottle of red wine. Despite all the good findings, excessive drinking should never be an option and is a completely different story. Otherwise, many physicians would have opted to hand out an abundance of prescriptions for wine.
