Editor’s Corner

Wow, already October. This last weekend

was Pheasant opener out here in North Da-

kota. One big takeaway, I need to work on

my shooting skills.

That said it was fun to be out and see the

dogs enjoying themselves doing what they

were meant to do. Besides, a tired GSP is a

good GSP around the house.

Shortly after the last newsletter was pub-

lished the Bismarck Kennel Club held its

show out here. Kelly entered Tango in his

first show, well actually four different ones.

Thank you to Mary and Erica Morris, Don-

na Schauer, and Lacy Bauer who were en-

tered in the shows for giving a rookie some

tips. It was cool to see Kelly’s handling

skills improve each time out.

On a side note we now have 122 members

in the club. That is largest number of mem-

bers I can remember the club having since I

joined in the late 90’s.

In the next coming weeks you will receive

the list of nominees for President, Vice-

President, and three Board positions that are

up for election at the annual meeting on Jan-

uary 10, 2017. At the November 15th

meeting nominations will be accepted from

the floor for any of these positions.

Have a great rest of the hunting season and I

look forward to seeing pictures of some of

your hunts..

Dog of the Year Awards www.gspcmn.org/doy

A new page on the website has been created listing

the Dog of the Year winners of the past. By going

through old newsletters I was able to find most of

the winners dating back to 1987. There are many

holes in the history that would be nice to get filled

in. If you have won any of the missing DOY

awards or know who has please email the infor-

mation to [email protected].

New Member Chair Looking for an individual that

would be interested in calling

new members to welcome them

to the club and answer any ques-

tions they may have or put them

in touch with others that can help

them out.

Newsletter Editor I’ve done the newsletter off and on since 2005. It’s overall has

been an pleasant undertaking for me that I have enjoyed. With

increased responsibilities at work I’m finding it difficult to allo-

cate the time for the newsletter.

The club currently publishes the newsletter six times per year.

If you have experience as a newsletter editor or feel like trying

something new, this could be your calling.

If you are interested in either of these positions please contact

an officer or board member with your interest or any questions.

Hunting Brags

We were hunting west of Mandan, ND on Saturday the 8th of

October. I was able to shoot a double of sharptail over a point

of nine year old RTK’s Torrential Rainstorm JH “Tori”.

If you have any good hunting pictures from this year please

email them to me at [email protected] with a brief

description and I will add them to an upcoming edition(s) of the

newsletter.
