Question of the week!

How can I prepare the way for Jesus in my corner of the world? Can I recognize a desert somewhere in my world that is without Jesus’ message of hope and comfort?

Pastor’s Corner

My Dear Parishioners, In this weekend’s parish bulletin you will find an insert regarding the Disciple Maker Index (DMI) Survey that we conducted in our parish this past February 5th – March 5th. We are grateful to all who took the time to com-plete the survey and are looking forward to sharing our results with you as well as an initial Action Plan that has begun and will be further developed by our DMI Survey Committee. With that in mind, I ask you to please take the time to read this week’s insert as it con-tains an overall summary of what a good num-ber of our parishioners believed to be our strengths and weaknesses as a parish. In addi-tion, we have listed some preliminary proposals to address these areas. As I have said before, through this survey information, we want to continue to make even better what is good here at Our Lady of the Assumption and seek ways to strengthen those areas that are weak and in need of growth. In many ways, you might say, this is the start of a conversation that we hope will over time lead to concrete initiatives to improve our parish on many various levels. I hope you find the preliminary results thought provoking and we look forward to hearing more from you and sharing more with you as we continue to strive to strengthen our faith, our parish community, and our efforts to be better disciples of the Lord. Just as a reminder, I have made a slight change on the Parish Office Hours for the summer months. As you may recall, in recent years, the Parish Office was closed on Fridays for the summer months. I have decided that for the summer, we will have the Parish Office open for a half-day between the hours of 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. I hope this change in schedule will be of benefit to all of you and I thank our parish staff for making this new accommoda-tion for the summer months. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support of our parish. Your generous giving of your time, talent and treasure are truly greatly appreciated. Hope you are enjoying the summer months and may God continue to bless you and your

families! Love and prayers, Fr. Carey

Hope in Christ:

Spiritual Support for Addictions

Seeking solace and spiritual support in the journey towards recovery? As you may know, opioid addiction has reached epidemic proportions and rates are especially high in the State of Pennsylvania. Addic-tion, no matter what form it takes, is causing much suffering in the lives of many families and they are look-ing to the Church for hope and help. Many local parish-es are offering ways to experience Christ’s Extended Hand of Love and Mercy in your time of need. Find Catholic resources for addiction for you or a loved one at: www.ARCHPHILA.ORG/HOPE. The Hope in Christ webpage will serve as a centralized location where families can find the spiritual support they need in their time of suffering. We will be posting events and resources being offered by parishes and ministries who are extending spiritual assistance to individuals and families struggling with addition.
