Now that the year has started and the famous resolution of “I will workout this coming year” seems to fade due to lack of consistency, discipline or worst; there are no immediate results. Many will slowly go back to eating unhealthy and stop going to the gym. The statistics state that only 8% of people actually follow through with such resolution. There is no reason to give up when you are only on your second month in. Some of my clients get disappointed because they start the year working out two hours a day and stop eating all the unhealthy food that got them to make such resolution. And then they realize they don’t have two hours in the day for a workout. For such cases I recommend a short but effective daily workout. There is no point in being at the gym for two hours a day when you can do better in less time. My workout routine takes forty five minutes of and intensive and specific routine. For example, running is a great cardiovascular exercise that will help you burn fat and improve overall health. But if you do some sprints rather than a long five mile run not only will you get a good workout in a short period of time; you can also notice a faster result in fat loss in your body as well as an increase in your muscle mass. I recommend you start off doing a 3 sets of 50 meters and 3 sets 100 meter sprints three times a week. Sprints are intense therefore it is important that you warm up and stretch before you sprint to prevent any type of injury. Below I will share with you a quick 45 minute workout you can try three to five times a day. The fun thing about this workout is you can do it anywhere.

In the park, at home or at the gym. I suggest you find a workout partner for encouragement.

Working out can be fun and it can also be short. The most important rule is that you are consistent and you follow a healthy and personalized meal plan that will help you achieve your goal and eventually accomplish your new years resolution.

Warning: Always consult your physician regarding verification of any health, disease, nutrition, and exercise related information, especially pertaining to your health. Always consult your physician before starting any diet or exercise regimen or before making any changes to your diet and/or exercise regimens.

Discussing Hospice

How to Begin the Conversation about Hospice

We often feel uncomfortable, even when a family member is dying, to begin a conversation about hospice. Yet, that conversation is a critical one for a number of

reasons. First, hospice can offer vital services not only for the person who is dying but also for the entire family. Second, hospice may allow the possibility for the person to

remain where they are -perhaps at home, in an assisted-living facility, or even a nursing home - sparing them a move to an unfamiliar hospital. Third, even at the

end-of-life,anyone capable of making decisions retain the right to make decisions about his or her care. This allows the individual the dignity to decide - a right

that is even more important as other aspects of life that the person can control become more limited.

This conversation should begin with the treating physician. It is appropriate to ask whether hospice is an option. Hospice is an available option when

the care goal is now palliative. This means that the treatment is focused on keeping the patient comfortable rather than curing the person or needlessly extending life. Opening this conversation with your physician allows the

doctor to understand your family’s concerns and wishes, Even if the goal is not yet palliative, it provides an opportunity for you or physician to broach that topic in

the future.

It is important to remember that choosing hospice is not “giving up.” Hospice is sometimes described as “aggressive comfort care.” This means the hospice staff will work very hard to keep the person as comfortable as possible so that

the person may live his or her remaining life in the fullest possible way.

When hospice is an available option, you can discuss it with the patient. There are a number of things that might assist you in having this conversation. The first question to consider is who might best initiate as clergy or the physician be the most appropriate person? Sometimes persons outside the family

can engage such conversations more effectively since they are less emotionally involved. As you consider this question, think about whom the patient seems most comfortable discussing such matters. For example, who hales the

health proxy for the patient? Has that person had a prior history of such conversation of care?

To learn more about choosing hospice you can contact your local hospital.
